Hola Chicos!
Ok, we realise our blog is pretty rubbish!!! We've been moving around so fast that we've hardly had chance to get on the computers. I've got the afternoon free now though, so I hope you're sitting comfortably!!! :)
I think we last attempted this thing we were in Cusco in Peru. Cusco was a really great place, if a little touristy. The place seemed to be full of Americans. The first three days of the time we spent there, we went rafting down the 'Apurimac River'. The rapids were supposedly grade 5... was great fun!!!! The day after returning to Cusco we went and did a 122m bungee jump. I've never been so bloody scared in my whole life!!!! Another great experience though. After the bungee we set off on our 4 trek along the Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu. The views along the walk were really amazing and M.P itself was really unbelieveable! Its just a shame there were so many other people there! It was quite funny on the morning we were due to get to Machu Picchu. We were all woken up at 4am and made to hike up to the Sun Gate, only to be met by thick thick fog!!!
Anyway, after returning to Cusco, (and randomly bumping into a couple of friends from uni!!) we started our mamoth journey south. From Cusco we went to Arequipa, then to a place called Tacha on the Peru-Chile border. We crossed the border to a place called Arica in the most battered up old taxi you've ever seen! We spent the night in Arica then set off for La Serena. Then, after another night in La Serena, we made it down to Santiago. Chile was really expensive and actually a lot like home. Because of that we only spent about 6 days there.
After Santiago we bussed over to Mendoza. On the way there a bus coming the other way had slipped on the ice and flipped over. Everyone got out but there were a few nasty injuries!
Mendoza was really gorgeous. Loads of tree-lined avenues and old 1970s style cars. We went on a wine tasting tour before heading down to a place called Bariloche in Patagonia. Me and Phil couldn't bring ourselves to spit the wine out after swilling it round our mouths and knocked back a good few glasses, needless to say we got a few funny looks!!! God, we're cultured!!!!
Bariloche was great fun. During the three days we spent there Phil taught me to ski. He's actually a pretty good teacher but doesn't believe in nursery slopes. He, (and what seemed like everyone else on the bloody hill) found it hilarious as I tripped and slid 40m down the hill, ploughing my way through an entire school of 6 year olds! Fortunately they could actually ski and all moved out of my way!!
From Bariloche we made our way up to Buenos Aires where we are now. We've met up with a couple from Sheffield who we met in the Pampas. They've been here a few more days than us and have taken us on a couple of funny nights out.
Tomorrow we have a ferry booked over to Uruaguay for the day. We come back here after that to go and see a Boca game, then we bus it out to Iguazu!
Anyway, I think thats about it for now! Think we're just going to have to show you the pics and videos when we're home. They take AGES to upload!!!! Sorry!
Looking forward to seeing you all. I can't believe we have just over 4 weeks left! Hope you're all well and surviving the floods!!!
