Seriously! Everyone needs to know... This is THE BEST park in Australia, if not the world... (I can't confirm the exact truth of either of those claims, but it's gotta be close). For our family at least, at the present time, we haven't been anywhere else that comes close to being the holiday park that this one is. We've been pretty much confined to barracks the last two days, as Pixie has been in at Mitsubishi having a 120,000k service, which is a major one, so they had to keep the car overnight. So, we've spent the last two days doing everything the park has on offer, and making the most of our down time while we're here. We did catch the courtesy coach from the park into the city (it does 3 trips per day, in and back from the shops, no cost), to look at the couple of shopping centres and city areas we hadn't already seen, and we wanted to go to the Cairns Wildlife Dome at the casino, but it was closed for a major development. But honestly, that was just to waste some time and get out and stretch our legs a bit. The rest of the time was spent in house. We played a round of mini golf this morning, which of course I won, but I was also scoring and doing the math, so it was always a foregone conclusion. Jo came close, but the boys were left a long way behind, and I have't let them forget it either. We missed aquarobics in the garden pool this morning, (we actually slept in past 8 o'clock) so to make up for it, we went to the coconut cafe and had coffee and cake instead. That was my idea, I figured it was a fair trade...
Jo and I have spent hours looking and talking about what we've seen and learned while we've been here, and ideas that we could put into place at home, but it all comes back to money. We simply need more of it... A short term solution was to sell Dylan to the highest bidder, but there's no guarantee that he'll go for much, and we'd lose our best chance at cheap labour in a couple of years. The short term gain may result in a long term loss... The only rational approach is to continue what we've been doing, slowly, slowly, as we can afford bits and pieces, but it's very difficult to accept that, when the potential and the possibilities are here, staring you in the face. It's just gorgeous, and the park completely delivers on its promise, it's not just glossy in the brochures and the ads, it really is 'glossy'.
Jeremy finally got to sit and chat in the spa with the young lady he's been interested in. It worked out really well actually, He was already in the spa with Dylan, when she walked in to the pool with her friend. Her friend then walked out again, and she jumped in the spa, and he just started a conversation with her. Just like that. And they had a good, long decent conversation, until her dad came and called her out to go somewhere. He managed to ask all sorts of questions, and he's sure they would have been able to become friends, but she left this morning, and that conversation took place yesterday afternoon, and there was just no time to build on it... He's happy though, that he had the courage and took the chance, and we're proud of him for managing to get as far as he got. It's a start, and it proves that anything can happen...
The car is back now, we picked it up earlier this afternoon, and it's in perfect condition (according to the report), but in desperate need of a wash. I'll do that soon. We're about to head out to dinner, and we're all starving, so I'd better deal with that before I try to finish this or I'll have a mutiny...
We leave tomorrow, after pancake brekky of course, but none of us want to. We wouldn't dare infringe on Geoff's hospitality any more than we already have, but we'd all love to...
We'll just have to come back...
