Two day wine tour in Mendoza area organised extremely well by Grapevine Wine Tours. Our guide Charles Pestridge is a Brit with a house over the border in Chile, but temporarily working as a wine guide in Mendoza attracted by the 1000 wineries in this area. He works independantly but was brought in to be our guide. It was just the three of us, so we had excellent instruction and our knowledge grew exponentially. We visited seven wineries and concentrated, realistically on their middle grade [£7.50 to 12.50] wines. However we did contast these with entry level wines [£5 per bottle] and their highest quality [£20+]. The difference between entry level and middle grade was obvious but less so middle grade to expensive. These wineries [see names on photos] make their reputaion on the international points systems and have middle grade wine in the 86 to 91 [out of 100] bracket. This means they have to have good quality wines in all grades to maintain their overall reputation. Sorry to be boring about wine but we really enjoyed this tour and drinking 30+ excellent Argentinain wines!
