Day two began with a shower adventure! My little toilet shower was hard to work out. I turned it on and the toilet started running!!! I turned it on all the way and the shower head burst to life and shot me straight in the face with high pressure hot water. Was awesome... Don't worry, I managed to tame the beast.
I made my way down to breakfast for my buffet to find a cat keeping himself warm on top of the food warmer. Nothing like hygiene standards! The scrambled eggs did taste good though, and there was not a cat hair in sight. I may cough up fur balls later though... I sat at a table overlooking the city. There was a huge fog so it was difficult to see past the building across the street. It looked eerie but beautiful at the same time.
There are literally thousands of bikes racing around Amsterdam all day, at at 7:30 in the morning, it seemed strange to not see a soul on a bike but the streets full already.
I went for a stroll to take up the time before my bus tour and came across a tiny little coffee shop in one of the back streets that DIDN'T sell weed with your coffee. I took the opportunity to sit down and get a caffeine hit before the day really got going. The barista was hilarious. When he heard me talk he put on the worst ever Australian accent but made up for it with a brilliant coffee. He spoke so many languages. Every customer that came in he spoke to in their native language. German, Italian, French and one that I have no idea what it was! It was a great way to fill the time until my bus tour!
First stop I make on my bus tour is to the only windmill in the city of Amsterdam. It's called Windmill De Goyer. Holland use to have around 30000 windmills all over the countryside, now there is less than 1000!
Stop two the Gassan Diamond tour! Lucky my budget is already set! The Gassan diamond is the only diamond with 121 facets. The sparkliest of sparkles!!! The ring I tried on was only $300,000 AUD! Pocket change really!
Next stop was the Albert Cuyp Market. The atmosphere was electric! There was so much fresh produce and handmade furniture, cheeses, meats and so much more. If only I had a shipping container to send home with all the stuff I fell in love with!
Short trip back on the bus and I get to the museums. The gardens are packed with people and it feels great walking around and seeing everything. Gorgeous gardens and monuments and some modern bits and pieces too. The gorgeous weather just added to the positives of this little stop. Had a dude from the tour bus walking around with me so I was able to get a few shots that weren't selfies!
Back on the bus to the last stop at Anne Frank House. I took a couple more pics then decided that I might jump on the Moët Champagne Canal cruise. Perfect way to end the trip! The cruise was magical! I was sitting/ laying on a raised deck at the back of the boat surrounded by cushions. The sun was shining, the Moët was flowing, what more could a girl want!!
One last stroll back to the hotel to get my bag and jump on a train, first class if course, back to the airport. At the end of the day yesterday, I was glad I came but thought of Amsterdam as somewhere I would not return to. The sights and adventures of today completely changed my mind on that. I need at least a week here ext time to do all the things I didn't get to do this time. Next time I will stay on the right side of town though!
Amsterdam, you amaze me!
