Early early start today b/c we were heading out to Germany. We had asked the hotel to give us a wake up call at 5:45 (it came at 5:30), and to call a taxi for us for 6:30. The cab was early, and b/c I wanted to get a receipt from the concierge, it had to wait for us for a bit. The concierge was super slow (I had pre-paid through booking.com already, but he was confused and wanted to charge me again - nuh-uh man) so when we finally got in the cab, the metrer already read €11.70 *sob* Thankfully, the Gare de l'Est station wasn't very far away, and we ended up paying €25 in all, but that was also b/c we didn't have change, so we rounded up.
At the train station, we had about half and hour before our train arrived, so we picked up a couple of croissants for breakfasti and sandwiches for lunch. Apparently, we wouldn't have time to eat when we got to Munich??
After the croissants, Immediately fell asleep on the train and missed a bunch of the beautiful countryside. Woke up at 11 just as we were getting into Stuttgart for our transfer to Munich. We had 8 minutes to transfer in between trains. I know, crazy right? But people here do it. That's considered the fastest transfer time, but you know, completely do-able.
We got our luggage ready at the door as the train pulled in, and hopped off (from track 8) ran down the platform and down a flight of stairs to tunnel to tracks 10-16, ran back up another flight of stairs where Pete champed both luggages b/c I couldn't get it up the stairs fast enough, and ran down platform 16 from the back of the train, to our car, car #2. Whew! Made it just in time! You see? Completely do-able... I almost had a heart attack!
