Paris, Charles de Gaulle: Landed safely and on time in Paris CDG at noon Paris time and upon stepping out of the plane, realized that we were outside! There were shuttles waiting fo take us to Terminal 3, which wasn't all that impressive. Got herded into the building a little like sheep, and then spent about 30 minutes waiting to get out passports stamped. Pete and I were planning on splitting up to get luggage and car rental, but food thing we didn't b/c luggage took no time, but car rental was another story.
I had reserved a car with Avis at T1/T3, but it turned out that the location at T3 was closed, so we had to find our way to T1. After much wandering around aimlessly, standing under the wrong signs, and asking in broken French, we found our way to the T1 shuttle. at T1, we proceeded to do more of the same as in T3 until we finally got to the Avis. We ended up with a manual Volvo V50 diesel, which made Pete really happy and forget about the last 2 hours of being lost.
Next stop, FNAC at centre commercial regional O'parionor where we: went to FNAC to by the ipad micro-SD cards that Nick recommended for our trip, went to the car to install it, went back to the mall to ask about getting it activated, went to SFR store where the FNAC people told us we could get help, came back to the car dejected b/c nobody could activate the dumb thing for us. Total time spent: 2.5 hours. Relied on the google map we printed out to drive to Rouen and Honfleur.
