We spent most of the day on Tuesday (6th March) driving down to the most southerly point on our tour tothe Adventure capital of New Zealand ...Queestown. Andrew decided to cut some 60 miles or so off the recmended route by taking a "short cut" over the mountain pass via Cardona from Lake Wanaka...this led the Pegs family through an adventure ride on its own in the tank via the steep mountain pass, narrow road and hari pin bends with sheer drops. Nevermind, we saved an hours driving...and Queenstown was sighted picturesquely by lake Wakatipu below us as we arrived like Julie Andrews in the sound of music by going up and over the mountains.
Just as we arrived our luck with the weather broke and it started to rain steadily. This scuppered our plans to take a light aircraft over fjiordland and to land at Milford Sound for the day before flyinging back...alas the planes were to be groundedon the Wednesday (7th March).
Therefore, as we were going to get wet we decided to go Jet boating up the Shotover River. This was absolutely great fun...we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The childrens are now definitely learning that new things are fun and are becoming much more adventurous.
On Thursday we came across a Bungy site and while walking up to it, believing that this was the next adventure Amelia asked sweetly asked if she would have to take her shoes off or could she leave them on...bless her.
