Today is our last full day in Toronto, so it was off to do the CN Tower and the shops!
After another yummy breakfast, we set off for the CN Tower. Going so early we missed all the queues. It was a 58 second ride up to the observation deck and we chose the city side view. Once up there we were treated to some fantastic views of the city and Lake Ontario.
After doing the tower, we decided to walk down to Union Station where all the trains in Canada go through, along with all the local commuter trains. People seem to always be pouring into the station or pouring out. We then walked up Bay Street to the Old Town Hall and then along Queen Street to the Eaton Centre on Yonge Street. There were four floors of shops in the Eaton Centre, mostly fashion shops, but there were also gift, book, and three department stores; Hudson Bay's, Sax on Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. Once we had looked around the centre, we ventured back onto Yonge Street and walked further north, then decided to go find the Maple Leafs Square where they play Ice Hockey. The Maple Leafs are the major Toronto Ice Hockey team. This we found right back down behind or the other side of Union Station. Here we purchased our Maple Leafs t-shirts. We then walked along from here to the CN Tower and Aquarium plus the Rogers Centre where the Blue Jays Toronto baseball team are based. Apparently there is a game there tonight verging the Twins baseball team. (Sadly the Blue Jays lost 1-6 runs).
Once back at our hotel to rest and have a snack from Starbucks right next to the hotel. At around 5pm we headed down for dinner to Canteen, a restaurant just down the road and next to Lightbox Cinemas, where we are going at 7pm to see a film called "Sundowners". We popped back to the hotel before going to the movie, but just before we were ready to head out, there was a fire alarm in the hostel! We had to walk down 16 flights of stairs!!
Once outside we just headed down to the cinema. The movie had a Q&A programme to it. The director of the movie was introduced and he spoke a bit about the movie and naturally thanked everyone connected with it! They decided they would have the Q&A session after the movie. We watched the movie, which I found very strange and not really funny, but it was meant to be a black comedy. Apparently a lot of people in the audience knew someone connected with the movie in some way.
When the movie finished, we decided we would leave. It was amazing how busy the street was when we got outside. This is obviously because it was a Friday night.
Last night here, so it was packing the bag before we went to bed.
In the end we did over 20,000 steps today! Long and sore feet to prove it!!
