Hi everyone :)
So, it's been a few weeks and im still here in Singapore....having a great time and enjoying the sun and the thunder storms!!
Me and T having been doing some serious exploring of the tiny but built up island, it certainly seems alot larger than it actually is, and grows more in height than anything else, with the giant shopping malls all over the place, you just cant escape a shop! And the endless amounts of people running around like confused ants in a major rush! Its alot more intense and hard work compared to London for sure! Plus the fact that as soon as you step outside your sweating beyond belief from the humidity! Which obviously means regular breaks for drinks and finding the nearest Starbucks or air coned shop!! :)
We have enjoyed a huge variety of things....from a Hindu festival in Little India, which involved Indian's with meat hooks in their skin pulling Hindu shrines all through the streets, (bit scary!!) they celebrate in colour, and in music, many with huge shrines over their bodies and heads, all secured through the skin and what looks like alot of pain! I saw one man even walking on shoes made completely of nails (I was perhaps wondering if their were worshiping some other belief than Hinduism at this point!!) But nether the less, it was very interesting to watch and well, enlightening to realize what some people will do for religion really.
On the complete opposite side to a coin...and as many of you may know of mine and Tracy's previous adventures together, we do like to explore and try a huge variety of things that are on offer!
So we have also been going to classes! The first class, we went to, was my idea and a present to Trace as I have known that she had wanted to try this for many years! And I had a interest in trying it out myself for giggling purposes! And so when arriving in Singapore I researched and found a dance studio that offers Pole Dancing classes!! T was well up for it and we booked in for over an hour's class at a dance studio called 'Jitterbugs Swingapore'. Fitting I thought! When we arrived, their were already woman practicing in the studio, with over 8 poles and MANY Asian woman (which was totally unfair due to their 'fine' bodies! and of course wearing very short shorts and small work out tee's, it was certainly going to be interesting!!
SO, we had signed up for a trial class for beginners, and it seemed so had alot of other egger and apprehensive women! There were unexpectedly at least other 5 western woman in the class excluding T and I...the remaining 10 were all Asian of some kind. The class teacher Jasmin, soon welcomed us into the class...her nationality is Singaporean, a small petite woman, with strong muscles for sure! Thankfully she had a great sense of humor and regularly made us laugh about the entire matter...declaring the that Pole dancing was more than the erotic image it had acquired, and she certainly persuaded us so, after watching her perform what looks like easy moves on this pole as if she was completely weightless and well, a bloody circus acrobat! She began to teach us a choreographed routine, with the right kind of music and alot of practicing we were all soon getting to grips with the new found ability to fly around a pole! and of course, adding in the most essential part of doing it gracefully and seductively...(hmmmmm!!! that is also easier than it looks!!) And after half an hour, we soon came to realize that all the strength was in the upper body and the abbs in order to perform the moves and the 'tricks!' It was a right giggle, and with the entertainment of Jasmin, it certainly was well worth it...plus an amazing work out! T wasn't as taken with the Pole dancing quite as much as I had expected (instead I was!!) oddly. SO, Tracy decided to embark further! (OH DEAR LORD! were my first thoughts!) as she began gaining information from Jasmin about a Lap Dancing/Erotic Dance class.....dear lord, I knew this wouldn't be my thing! But with much enthusiasm from T, I thought id join her in our experience Quest...!
A few days later, we went back to the studio and this time, was greeted by a different instructor...Leila. A very petite Malaysian woman who was known in the studio as "THE BODY" well great!! a whole hour of watching a glorious Asian woman with THE BODY...strutting around in next to nothing....I believed it should be a class for men really!
Anyway, Leila was just as fun and amusing with the class...and as per instructed, we all arrived with short shorts on, tees and a mans tie, a mans shirt and were provided with a hat....hmmmmmm.....were my thoughts as when were were first given the dress code instructions! And had the option of bringing high heels....I opted not! But it would have been more of a giggle to do so.
So at the beginning, she sat us down, and we began stretches. again the class was full. It seemed this sordid class was popular with the woman of Singapore...(well, they are extremely empowered here!) After, we began a choreographed routine, involving a chair...(Hmmmmm...again!!) Tracy was grinning constantly at this point and with many jokes flying around, our British humor overtook the room, (as the Asian have to be prompted to be humorous!) and T and I soon became the entertainment for the room! Especially with the instructor...(DEAR LORDY SPRUNG TO MIND AGAIN!!!) So, as I was unable to perform these moves with out laughing my arse off, I decided to play into it with T and we gave a fab performance of the routine (which disturbingly had to be practiced on one another!!) ...hence the need for the laughter! Jasmin even joined the class at one point to watch...! She also found it amusing/slightly disturbing...yet unbelievable that T and I were able to perform the routine on one another....and SO DID I!! I even put my tie around my head at one point to cover my eyes!!!
But, it was great fun, with the shirt flying, hat throwing, floor routines and chair movements, we certainly didn't waste the experience! It was a good giggle and T as I expected enjoyed it far more than me! So much so, that I believe she is enrolling in April for the 8week classes! But I know it wont be as much fun without her bashful companion!...moi.
So that was an enjoyable experience...and we have further managed to build a small friendship with Jasmin, as T and I were given complimentary vouchers to a Yoga studio. And decided to try Hot Yoga. Now if anyone has ever tried this, you will know that it involves alot of energy, and you truly consider death during and after as the outcome! I refused to speak to T for quite some time after the session!!!
We went for it, as neither T nor I had ever tried hot Yoga, and me for that matter, never tried Yoga before! We arrived and its a rather 'Pooosh' establishment, the people there love themselves alot...which is also amusing to watch. So my first time at Yoga, and we were entering a room, that was 35'c plus. OMG!!! It was bloody hot. I turned to T at this point and mentioned how she had forgotten to tell me about the HOT part of HOT Yoga...I obviously didn't ask enough questions regarding this! We sat down on the Yoga mats and after the woman making everyone "Arhmmmmmm" several times and ranted on about opening ourselves to the Universe, I truly knew T had dragged me into a session of complete pain and suffering!! And gave her a gracious look that I and my dad perform at times of pure amusement...! ha.
40mins in and its raining from my body! I am leaking from every or aphis and attempting to consume as much water as possible! T every now and then turning to me and asking how I am....my response a swift and harsh ' Bloody hot thanks!' She was further amused it seemed! Anyway, many poses later, and several shaky limbs, were nearly at the end of the class.....90minuets!!!!!!!!! Im dripping with sweat and truly exhausted in the heat. The instructor thankfully was a lovely woman, and taught me a great deal about the position and getting them accurately...which is important. And apparently despite my humor towards the class I did very well, and even managed on several occasions to survive longer than T!! SCORE! ;)
By the end of the day though, both our skins felt amazing, uber soft and totally refreshed, I actually felt like I had done a serious work out and lost pounds! And the 90min class we found out is an equivalent to doing a 4 and a half mile run! Well I should think so after all that sweating!! And we enrolled for another class a few days later....and went for the 60min class (at this point im asking T furiously why we didn't do the 60min class the first time round!!) but anyway...!
That day we met Jasmin there unexpectedly, and decided to support her and Jitterbugs later that eve who were performing in one of the Giant shopping centers!
We went down, and they had a stage all set up and were part of a large promotion display going on. They were promoting Jitterbugs, and by 8.30 when the show started, they had a serious audience from every angle! The girls did amazingly....and one English girl called Jennifer, who we had met a few times, was particularly nervous (as would I be in tiny short shorts and pervy men all over the place!!) But me and T gave great support, and watched their show, which was very good, as they flew themselves around the poles and performed tricks up the top and hanging from them...was very good. Although they all looked like they needed a stiff drink after!!lol.
So that was the naughty adventures you could say we have been doing...on more normal activities over the past few weeks, ive been helping Trace and Pete find furniture for their glorious apartment, and going plant shopping, clothes shopping for T as I do every time I come and stay with her! (she just uses me as an excuse to spend money so she can blame me!!!) But this year I noticed I didn't need to apply much effort into persuasion of her going clothes shopping and updating her wardrobe, she has infact surprised me in her eagerness to do so, and I rarely have to go as far as saying that something looks nice and I like it before she's been at the Till...she's a changed woman from that of 3years ago when I was dragging her to the tills in CA to make her buy a new pair of jeans because she had non!!! Incredible!
We've enjoyed many days by the pool, and just tottering around doing minor things that need to be done. And basically further exploring!
I myself, have been ill...once again! and for the past week, have been on and off in health. But hoping that very soon ill be all well and fixed....main issue is migraines which are causing other effects such as sickness (not nice) so im drugged up once again!
I have also managed to book my flight for my new job in Egypt, and am flying from Thailand on the 10th March to Hurghada, Egypt. Im getting more and more excited about the idea of exploring Egypt, and finally filling my childhood fascination with the Egyptians and the Pyramids! And oddly I can't wait to see a snake come out of a straw basket to the sound of a trumpet (or what ever it's called the musical instrument they play!) And of course I just can't wait to dive!
My new job at Video bubbles, is giving me two weeks training to become an underwater Videographer and then ill be working with many other dive shops daily, recording customers underwater and the Marine life. Im certainly excited to learn something new and get another string to my bow as it were...which I think will be good in future!
So I fly from Singapore with Tracy on the 28th Feb to Phuket, Thailand. Were T and I are going to chill there together, Im going to show her all around Phuket and just rest a little more before my new job. T will then be returning to Singapore on the 5th March, and Ill be heading for Phi Phi to see my close beloved friends there for the last time, and of course harass Kenny (my old boss) as much as possible for the last time :) SO a few days will be spent there, diving and relaxing before I finally get up to Bangkok for the eve of the 10th and jump on the plane for a LONG flight to Hurghada...not to mention the 6hour stop in Cairo (so excited about that!!)
So, ive got a week left here in Singapore, and due to my health and lack of energy, T and I are going to keep it a relaxed week and just do the last few things that we all want to.
I hope you are all well your end, and have enjoyed the update of just some of the things we have been up to here!
I shall add photos soon :)
Lots of Love everyone xxxxx
Love Dan xxxxxxxx
