Hi there guys....
So im now in Singapore, spending Q time with my Aunt and Uncle, Tracy and Pete. So far since arriving on the 20th we've done alot!
I began by helping T and P move into their new home...a very luxurious apartment in the 'high' end of Singapore. Very fancy....and very nice! Can't say its been much of a chore being here so far, ive been able to enjoy the great facilities of the 25+metre pool...and the free gym full of extensive equipment which has certainly been great keeping me fit for diving. Plus its been a blast hanging out with T & P, both gr8 fun (most of the time!!)
Singapore itself is pretty amazing considering its location in the middle of Asia. It reminds me of a mini America..surrounded by big buildings for such a small island and high end financial district along with ENDLESS SHOPPING CENTRES AND SHOPS!! I actually believe there are more shops than there are people! Theres every culture under the sun here, and considering all seem to live very well together.
Its a pristine place, no litter, lowest crime rate and full of successful, rich people....so it seems so far! Im actually irritated by the level of conformity here, they even have people on the underground (MRT as they call it) with lights directing people which side they should be walking at all times...!! Smokers have to smoke in small little yellow boxes located every now and then on the streets (ha ha daddy!! not a place i know you'l enjoy!)
But i suppose the individual people and their often strange dress sense stand out...me and Trace could people watch for ages!!!
After feeling pretty ill for a while, ive been resting up alot...but getting alot better now and me and Trace have been enjoying alot that there is to do in Singapore as she hasnt manaaged to discover too much yet.
Chinese New Year which lasts pretty much for two weeks, was a huge attraction...with parades and street performances we spent quite a few eves after Pete had finished work heading down into the city centre on the water front and watching the fantastic shows. We also managed to discover several English pubs! Which i was super please about...not only was ther chips and curry sauce but onion rings too!! It was pretty amazing!
Me and Trace ventured down into China town yesterday, discovering some amazing shops...i actually learnt so much about Chinese history...some of it exceptionally disturbing, yet facinating. Although SING is quite an expensive place, me and Tracy have managed to discover wet markets and some great food halls around. I think ive eaten mostly thai food here! which is great. And its very cheap too.
Singapore doesnt really have much history behind it, so no special type of Sinagorien food can be found, its extremely westernised with Mc.Donalds everywhere and Starbucks, which in a way im hoping Thailand and Malaysia never quite turn as Western as here. Although SING certainly has its charm, and im loving window shopping so far. (am refraining for the time being!!)..well done me!!
So, i thought id give a small update on my new location and hope to tell more soon of what me and trace have planned to experience here :) going to be a giggle for sure!! (think i may be a bad influence on her!!)
Anyway, hope you all back in the UK are enjoying the snow! Im enjoying the sun im afraid and not missing the snow!!
Miss you all xxxxx
Loads of Loves xxxxxxx
