Hiya
Just a quick update as we are now in Puket. We finally arrived on Tuesday evening after a long boat and minibus journey that took 12 hours from when we left till we arrived! The agent had previously advised us that it would take 7! As you can imagine the whole bus was less than pleased as we were left waiting in cafe's while we changed transport 6 times. Paul was rather chilled out though as he had read about scams like this before but didn't advise Carly of this until we arrived in Puket!
We found a nice hotel for the night in Puket town, checked in, and went for an explore and a lovely thai meal. As this was an authentic thai restaurant reconmended to us, we didn't quite know what to order and also what parts to eat. We proceded to demolish the lot until a kind little waiter informed us that we weren't meant to eat the PALM TREE Leaves that surrounded our deep fried chicken! Oh well! And as you can see from the pictures(dribbly nosed Paul) some of the dishes were on the spicey side.
The next morning we were up bright and early and hopped on the local bus to the beach resort of Kata. We found yet more nice accomidation, chucked our bags in and headed off to the beach.
Puket is more of a holiday destination rather than a backpacker haven, we didn't mind this as we feel like we are on holiday any way! It's alot more built up and alot more pricey. We have had a good look round and to be honest you wouldn't think that the Tsunami had hit here 2 years ago although there are many reminders everywhere you go. Don't worry we checked out our nearest evacuation point!
Due to all this hard work, sunning ourselves on the beach, we deserved a treat so, today we had a full body thai massage! It was ledge, completely different to any thing we have had before. They pull and push you in all sorts of directions! We both left feeling refreshed.
Keep e-mails and messages coming.
Love to all
Carly and Paul
