Hi Guys.
As some of u may have read on the message board its just me (Carly) doing the update today! So please excuse the grammer & spelling as paul's not inspecting it.
We've managed to fit so much in since our last upate. We left Puket in the early hours to catch another Ferry over to Koh Phi Phi Don. This island was the worse affected by the Tsunami so i wasn't really sure what to expect. We knew accomadation was limited & therefore more expensive here but we managed to do alright. Once that was sorted we went off for an explore. This island is so cute. There's no cars & hardly any motorbikes. Most people get around by foot or push bike. Its different from the other islands as everythings built so close together it feels a bit like the mini city. They have made great efforts to rebuild Phi Phi over the past 2 years but there's still alot of building work going on & many people are still living in temp accomadation.
Then we headed to the beach, our nearst beach was Loh Dalam bay. It's only recently been reopened but it was beautiful, our favourite beach yet! We spent most of the day relaxing as we really getting the hang of that now. In the afternoon we decided hire a kyak a managed to get oursleves to the next bay along called Monkey beach but unfortuantly we were to late to see any monkeys.
The next day paul managed to get us a good deal with a guy that does private long tail boat trips to the neighbouring uninhabbitted island of Phi Phi ley. We visited all the main parts including all the caves & bays. The best stop was Maya bay. This is where the movie the beach was filmed. We moored up 100m from the beach and had a little snorkel. Our driver Rin threw the fish some food so there where thousands all around us. This snorkeling was much better to any we had experienced before. The coral was alive & bright. The fish swam upclose & where so colourful. It was amazing. Then we headed to the beach. We've used the word paradise before but this was on a completey different level. It was breath taking. The water was crystal clear & the sand was so soft & white! We lazed here for a couple of hours it was wonderful. After that we had a another stop before headed back to Phi Phi Don. The driver moored up at Monkey Bay. This time there were loads of monkeys. Paul reckons about 50 but i don't think there were that many. Of course i was a bit wary so i just stayed in the boat & watch. It was quite funny though a chinese women was there teasing one of the monkeys with her water bottle & another monkey came over & bit her on the leg! Paul thought this was hilarious & was laughing uncontrolable.
The evening started off in the irish bar watching football. (great!) then we headed to a rock bar that had a live band on. Then we bumped into Mary & Caroline. The 2 mad irish girls we know from Chaing Mai. They'd been in PP for a while so they knew all the cool bars to go to. We parted the night away with them. It was very weird though at 2am its the law in PP for all music to be turnt off but that didn't stop us. We headed to the beach where there was a half moon party. Paul was on the buckets again & was totally hammered. For some reason hw was talking 2 every1 in a sweedish accent! Still can't work out y!
Me & Paul both agree that Phi Phi is without a doubt our favourite place in Thailand.
After Phi Phi we headed to Koh Lanta. We managed to get some accomadation just off of Long beach. It was lovely here but we kept saying "not as lovely as PP" We both feel asleep till about 6.30 on the beach. The sun was just settingas we woke it was beautiful & romatic. That evening we had dinner on the beach also. They have these lttle cool huts that you lay/sit in. We stayed there all evening listening to regi regga music.
After Lanta we got on yey another ferry to Krabi. The ferry toke us the Krabi near the city centre. We has a browse around the city but we couldn't really do much as we has our packs on. We headed to the beach where we cought a longtail boat to our chosen destibtion of Tonsai. Tonsai is full of backpackers & climbers. We managed to get a little bunglow not far from the beach. Mary & Caroline has warned us about the heat here but i just thought they were making a fuss but seriously its bloody hot here & there is no breeze whats so eva! i feel like i'm in an oven most of the time.
As we enjoyed the longtail boat trip in PP so much we decided to do another one here. This time we didn't have the boat to ourslves we were ramed in with 8 other sweaty bodies. This trip firstly took us to Poda island. Here the fish came right up close to the sand. You didn't really need to snorkel. Then we went to chicken island named as a part of it looks like a chicken head? (Well kinda) Here we stopped & our guide said it was time to snorkel. I was all excited & leeped off the boat,(Paul said i looked like a 6 year old who's never seen water!) not realising how shallow the water was. I managed to cut my Big toe & the whole side if my foot on the really Colourful but sharp corals. (GREAT!) Ater that i we stopped off in Tup island for lunch. We finished our trip in Pranang cave this is a famous loction known in Thailand as the princess spirt house. This was a new & interesting experince for us both. Especially when these 2 girls from Isreal came over & started chatting to me. Appaerently i look like the twin of a famous actress over there!
Well any ways i think i've rambled on 4 long enough. Its so hot in here i feel like i'm gonna pass out! Paul will no doubt update u on his rock climbing advanture when we next get the chance.
Hope everyone is well at home in the snow!
