Hi everyone,
Left Kathmandu for Chitwan in the Rainbow bus along a road that was tortuous and designed for one and a half cars but which was packed with buses and trucks. The no rules took on some coheasion, they all give way (even if the situation is a bit precarious). It was good to be the inside lane as the drop was a few hundred metres into a glacial river with nothing mostly to prevent a drop. The 1st toilet stop was where we pulled to the side of the road and all the locals got out and mooned the tourists from the roadside, when we stopped at the official toilet I understood why the roadside was a better option!!!!
This country is unbelievably beautiful and the people are stunning to look at, and the clothes are very beatiful and sooooo clean but the garbage is strewn everywhere and the small rivers are full of it. There are thousands of bodies of uncapped testosterone hanging around that could be used to clean up. Have yet to see a rubbish bin in the street.
Chitwan was an oasis in the jungle and evrything about the place was so organised and awesome - didn't get to see a tiger but saw lots of deer etc and THREE sloth bears and a RHINO!!!!! Plus we got to play with the elephants!!!! Four hours over two treks (so beautiful to be riding along in the misty morning thro the jungle). Then we got to play and bath them - sooooo exciting
The Nepalese are so friendly and for those that are in the know the guy behind the bar was a dead ringer for Trevor Marmalade. They also have a really cheeky sense of humour and many speak English
