Stayed in Nelson which is over towards the Abel Tasman National Park. I really liked Nelso, it does not get much press but as soon as I arrived a knew I would like it. Its a pretty small town with not a huge amount going on but there is a port and mountains, loads of small shops and everyone appears to be happy and full of life.
On arriving I was just planning what to do as an 'independent traveller' when I met up with the group from the Magic bus again. I decided to stick with them a bit longer as we had had a great laugh previously and the last 24 hours had shown me I prefer spending time with people than doing things on my own!! Independent travelling is a sham!! Haha. So we all booked on a full day kayaking and walking tour around one of the lakes in the National Park.
We had a fantastic day. The place is absolutely stunning! Beautiful lakes surrounded by mountains and deserted beaches. We spent the morning kayaking, I was with Sarah from Canada. Had a great time visiting the seals and some of the small islands. In the afternoon we had a 3 hour walk over the hills of one of the islands. Then we were picked up by the water taxi to take us back to base. Spent the day with Amy, Shona and Jodie (from Doncaster) and will probably stick together for the next week or so. They are all a really good laugh so we should have some fun.
