Well, after an unbelievably strong thunderstorm last night our last day here at the resort was great... Started with a great breakfast at the clubhouse, a "last day" Thai massage, followed by a swim in the sea, a bit of snorkeling, a great lunch, one last swim in the Andaman Sea and a Thai buffet dinner.
The last swim was unforgettable! I was in the water with my hair down and thought either it or the tie on my bathing suit top was scratching at my back, so I pulled my hair to the side and there was a 3" crab caught in my hair!! Of course I squealed and started flailing around... Poor crab was likely terrified too but he was immediately loose and back into the sea. Thankfully with 10km of beach there was only one woman in earshot and she had headphones on. :)
Much like our Costa Rica trip the time has come where I have no clothes left that haven't 1) been worn multiple times and 2) anyone could stand to be near me in due to the stink after being worn while hot and sweaty, so this makes leaving such a beautiful place a little easier. (Plus, of course, we miss our family and little mutts!)
We've come up with the list of what we will specifically miss about this place, in no particular order:
- the Thai people here; they have been so wonderful. Words to describe them would be: gentle, meek, modest and respectful, with the most beautiful smiles. It is an amazing culture.
- mango smoothies
- longdan fruit that I've discovered is delicious
- yellow chicken curry (Colin)
- Thai food in general (Paula)
- incredible sunsets every night, as the beach faces West over the Andaman Sea
- our house companions (who are all MIA tonight!): kitchen frog and giant toad, bathroom frog, little geckos and large house gecko Tokay
- Thai massages: we both said that we'll have to find someone back in Winnipeg who does this!
- swimming in the sea every day!
