Sawatdee-ka! (hello in Thai)
Our entire morning was spent at the beach in the water swimming and snorkeling. I know I shouldn't even say this given that we're here only 8 days, but it is oppressively hot today! I have no idea of the temperature but it has definitely increased over the past 24hrs. Last night was a rough sleep due to the heat, but we just finished lunch and will have a nap now until it cools off (slightly) as the sun sets. Napping in open air is one of the best parts of vacation for me, but unfortunately our house is one that doesn't have a hammock! :). The other cool-down method is a shower - since there's no hot water we learned that it's a good idea to get a shower in during the day!
Colin found a new friend today at the beach - seems everywhere we go there are stray dogs looking for human friendship. There are a couple of dogs here at the resort, and this guy followed a couple of volunteers from Naucretes (turtle protection) over from nearby Lions Village. He spent the morning hanging out at the beach and making friends with anyone who would say HI.
Tonight's plan for our anniversary is dinner served here at the house which will be nice. The food has been amazing and it's been pretty easy for Colin to stay on plan, although he has been eating rice. The staff here are amazing - last night they brought him a specific meal of steamed fish with broccoli and asparagus, which are not native here and had to be specially ordered from the mainland. The regular meal was buffet and included fish and chicken and a veggie similar to kale that was perfect for him anyway, but they still wanted to be able to provide exactly what he needed.
Time for that cold shower...!
