Unfortunately Florence didn't live up to the good times we had in Venice and Rome, most likely due to the sheer amount of sightseeing we had done in these two cities. We arrived in Florence early afternoon on Monday 30th June, after stopping off at a small town on the way (the name escapes me but we saw another impressive Duome, or church :) ). That night the Busabout guide took us for a walk around the city, pointing out the famous sights, such as the Duome, the Art gallery and Michaelangelo's "David", and the old bridge. However this was pretty much all there was too see as Florence felt more like a tourist trap, with street sellers trying to flog off fake leather products amongst other things. Which was a shame as the city itself is quite beautiful.
After this tour, the guide took us to a restaurant where a special dinner had been organised for the group on the bus. We got to know some of our fellow travellers, and before you knew it we were at the bar next door enjoying happy hour drinks and singing Karaoke!!!! We then continued the party back at the campsite bar, and then in the cabin where the tour guide was treating us to his supply of authentic Austrian schnapps. Suffice to say, Tuesday was kept pretty low key :) In fact the rest of our time in Florence was kept low key, with the heat and distance into town keeping us in the air conditioned comfort of our cabins. Again, the campsite was well equipped so we had restaurant, bar and shop all on site to keep us happy!
Anyway we left Florence for Nice on 3rd July, stopping off at Pisa on the way so we could get a few snaps of the leaning tower! Ok so thats a wrap on our Italian adventures and I should have a post up in the next few days from here in Nice.
Take care xx
