Gday again! Just a quick update since the Bristol entry. My flight into Paris was fine and hassle free, as was the passage through French immigration and customs. I grabbed a taxi and headed towards the hostel. After checking in, I met up with Carl Greaves, a bloke I went to high school with. He took me on the subway to Bastille, where we had a few beers and caught up. Bastille was really cool, lots of funky art deco style bars and small cafes. Called it a night around 12 as I had to be up to catch the bus at 8am. Caught the train back to the hotel by myself, which was an interesting experience, not understanding a word of French!!
Woke up around 7am and caught the Busabout bus from Paris, destination AMSTERDAM!!! The bus itself is pretty cool, comfy with entertainment (movies, music) on board. The tour guide was also really cool, very friendly, chatty, and informative. Anyway, we stopped for lunch in Bruges, a really beautiful city in Belgium. Definitely have to come back and see Belgium more extensively, and not just for the fact they brew over 800 different types of beer!!!!!
We then continued on our journey towards Amsterdam, arriving at the hotel around 6pm. It was a long drive, but went really quickly which is good. Amsterdam itself is actually a really picturesque city as well. s***loads of canals, more then Venice apparently. And everyone hear rides bicycles!! Its unbelievable!! You cant walk down the footpath without nearly getting run over! The nightlife is good too. The busabout guide put us onto an Ùltimate Party Pub Crawl, which was really good fun. Cost us 17 euro, but u get 6 free drinks, 1 at each pub, plus free entry and free vodka shots for half an hour at the start of the night, as well as when u get into each club. Suffice to say, it was a very boozy night. We did this the first night here in Amsterdam, tuesday i think, and had so much fun we did it again last night.
Its now Thursday and we have a bit of down time on our hands. I think the past two nights are catching up with us, plus we have to catch the bus early tomorrow to Berlin. So I think tonight will be very low key.
Hope all is well back home. Speak soon.
