Lovely town, featured in last weeks Sunday Times Travel Section. A twenty minute walk - my speed - from the aire is stretching my capability but I've never seen a town with so much alfresco seating. Just as well as our return was in one hundred yard shambles then a rest. One disappointment was the large and extremely busy Tourist Information. Yes, there was free WiFi but you need to know the "key" and - nobody knows it!.
The aire itself is a small section of a huge car park, holding ten vans. Lots of vans also using the car park.
We're normally quite at home with public transport, being SC's. The buses here though have us beat. The aire is designated as a Park & Ride and a poster clearly shows the bus number route and stops. We got on one, asked for the Cathedral and were told to catch a tram!. We got off and walked.
Warm to hot sunny days after a misty morning start.
We've had our first pintxos here. A sort of Basque tapas but more substantial. Two, at €1.50 each, make a light lunch. Mentioning the Basques reminds me that I was told off for saying 'adios'. The correct way here to say goodbye is 'ajur'.
