The Beautiful Lagunas
Wow! Well today I saw some OUTSTANDING scenery. I really don't think you can see how beautiful it was in the pics. Simply beautiful. All of it! So I was picked up just after 7am by the minibus, after getting up at 5 to ensure I got a shower as there are only 2 bathrooms for approx 50 people. The bathroom was free but there was zero water pressure. When I spoke to the guy this seemed normal and he told me instead to use the huge bottle of water sitting next to the sink. Um, no. So babywipedown it is then!
So we drove for 2 hours (this time it was definitely worth it!) to Laguna Tuyasto, a gorgeous salt lake high up in amongst the Andean volcanoes, so pretty high altitude again. It was freezing up there. 3 degrees I'm told. Then Piedras Rojas (Red rocks), then another two fabulous Lagunas Miniques and Misconti and then to a salt flat (Not the Bolivian one, the Salar de Uyuni, the out of this world place I've based my whole trip on which I'm seeing in December when the weather should be perfect) called Salas de Atacoma where it was 25 degrees and we saw Andean Flamingoes! The pictures are all back to front so start at the end and you'll have a good idea.
Early night as getting picked up at 5am to see some geysers. There are natural springs there but I'm told it's minus 7 there and the people I've spoken to have not braved the cold to get in the hot springs. I will. Obviously.
