Hanging out with Trevor in Arica
Last night I met Trevor. He's Australian, 30 and has been travelling alone for the best part of a year. He's been EVERYWHERE and has an abundance of advice, good and bad, about Chile and generally the whole of South America. He has the same opinion as me that he LOVES Chile and was so glad to get out of Peru. I know you're all gonna say WHAT???? but I completely trusted this guy from the start so when he said he was going to visit a national park pretty close by today, I invited myself to tag along with him. Just me and him. In his car. I'll make sure I post this when I'm back safe and sound so you all know I'm safe.
Anyway, off we went. 1st stop, petrol station. He filled up then realised he couldn't find his wallet. Yeah yeah likely story I thought. Anyway I paid. 40000 pesos. around £40. But really, we spent the next 2 hours looking for his wallet and cancelling cards. He did genuinely lose it. He thinks he left it on the bonnet of the car as we drove off, it fell, someone picked it up and is now enjoying a fancy lunch somewhere. He cancelled all his cards and called his dad in Australia (1130pm son!!) to wire him some money! I chilled out at the hostel drinking beer, playing pool and listening to Erasure while he did all this. Cos selfishly I'm still waiting for him to be my guide at Parque Nacional Lauca!
It got too late to go by the time he'd done all his stuff so we headed up to the top of a big cliff to watch the sunset and take pics. I've seen better sunsets.
