13th February 2007 - Day 319
Arrived in Puerto Madryn to find SA is actually hot!! We haven´t really experienced any heat since Santiago. After an afternoon siesta we sat in a beach front cafe and watched the world go by.
14th February 2007 - Day 320
Valentines Day - Had lunch at La Barra, wow the food was amazing. We had a massive seafood paella for two and it was damn good. Decided to rent a car tomorrow to visit the nearby (ish) penguin colony and an old welsh colony further inland.
15th February 2007 - Day 321
Picked up the new motor - Gladys and headed off on the wrong side of the road out of the city. (What i mean is in relation to Britain, not actually on the wrong side! So Pauls Mum don´t worry) Had a long drive to the penguin colony - Punta Tomba and wow was it worth it. We headed off across the sandy track towards the beach expecting not to see any until we got there, but to our surprise they were all along the sandy track. One under every bush was a penguin, literally a foot away from us. So close you could touch (and smell their fishy breath) not that you´d want to touch them they bite don´t you know.
Set off to the welsh colony of Gaiman for a welsh tea. Which consists of as much tea and cakes as you can eat and drink!! We were sooooo full afterwards we couldn´t quite manage a second tea house. The town is nothing special but had about 6-8 tea houses to choose from and not a welsh street name in sight.
