16th February 2007 - Day 322
Set off from Puerto Madryn on a 20 hr overnight bus to Buenos Aires on our very comfortable executive leather reclining seats - very swish!!
17th February 2007 - Day 323
Arrived in BA early in the morning, tramped across town to the hostel via the very handy Metro system. The hostel seemed nice and quiet!! Had a little nap and then strolled to San Telmo, a lovely part of BA, all antique shops and cafes.
In the evening bumped into Maza and Richard a lovely couple from London we met in El Calafate. Both had giant bif de lomo with papas puras and lots of red wine. We were both discussing our travels and told them we were planning on visiting the Iguazu Falls in a few days, it was then that Richard told us a very scary story. They had visited Iguazu and came back with a little friend in their bag. Richard opened his bag in BA and found a tarantula inside, it had hopped a ride from Iguazu. The hostel they were staying at did not know what to do so they had to kill it in the bag. Richard now has a t-shirt with tarantula juice on it. - Nice!!!!
18th February 2007 - Day 324
After wandering round the Sunday craft market and spotting some Tango dancing in San Telmo's main square, we headed to for an expensive trip to the La Boca to see Boca Juniors play Rosario. The atmosphere was fantastic and the crowd was amazing, the two sides had their own fervent fans banging drums and trying to out sing each other. Despite the 1-1 Boring boring Arsenal style draw the game was amazing and worth going to - even though we spotted a similar tour on the notice board of our hostel for half the price.
19th February 2007 - Day 325
Decided to find out what BA has to offer in the way of chilling out. Headed for brunch in Palermo Viejo one of the trendy neighbourhoods nick named Palermo Soho i think. Good brunch despite not finding the recommended bar (sorry Joe from Aussie, we met in El Calafate, we couldn't find it).
Then trawled the shops for some leather bargains, and checked out the poncey shops, very nice! Took the metro to the central shopping area - nah should have stayed in Palermo - here there were wall to wall leather shops - and the bargains harder to find. After a day out and eating out till 12.30pm, headed back to hostel where we had our second night of having stay up till in the very noisy hostel till 2 or 3 am. Hostel Sol not recommended!!!
20th February 2007 - Day 326
After posting off some heavy baggage, we headed to Recoleta to see the Cemetario - where Evita - Eva Peron - was buried (or put in a elaborate tomb as is the way in this cemetery). Cemetery was pretty spectular if you can say that about a cemetery, every family tomb was like a mini temple.
In the afternoon we caught the bus to Puerto Iguazu another overnighter, this time a film with no sound and another 20 hours onboard.
