We have now left Bangkok. Any fears of mass protest and rioting during yesterday's election, came to nothing.
We met up with a great couple from Islington Green (Essex Rd) and we spent the day with them.
We hired a long tail boat around the canals and even saw a 4 feet long water monitor sunning itself on the bank. Visited some more temples (wats) and had dinner in the new night market Asiatique. Also took a ride on their London Eye equivalent overlooking the Bangkok skyline, which was great!
John and I went into a bar to watch the Arsenal game live on TV while Barbara and Marion retired to the hotel.
In spite of the local bar girls doing their best to attract our attention, we resorted to batting them off in order to concentrate on the game. Some people have no sense of Dacorum!
Checked out this morning and after a 3 hour drive, we arrived at Ban Phe pier and took the speed boat to an island called Koh Samet. The boat dropped us off on the talcum powder beach of our home for the next 5 days.
Ao Cho Hideaway beach resort is idealic and looking forward to some serious relaxing over the next few days.

Laura Glad you made it to the beach retreat - feeling very jealous reading this whilst it is 2 degrees outside! Tried to forget it was quite so cold whilst we were stood outside school for a fire drill this afternoon, it didn't work. We were coooold! All good here though. Andrew sends his love and a run down of the arsenal, hitchin, Barnet, rugby (boo) scores. Trying to organise a Sunday to head over for lunch with him in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy - will try to skype on Wed if we can , love Laura, Michael & Charlotte xx
John & Nicky Glad you two are having a great time. Great to read your blog updates. All well here but wet wet wet - should extend your holiday by another 6 months if I were you - we'll email when its worth coming back - in the meantime carry on enjoying. John & Nicky Neighbours.
