Hiya!
Been pretty hectic for the since the 10th Feb as we´ve been on the move through Chile practically every two days. Anyway from San Pedro we took a nightbus to La Serena, a typical beach town where the weather was gorgeous. Visited an observation centre there which was such a great experience as I got a close up photo of the moon and now I can actually name a few consellations.. I may be pointing a the wrong place but I have the names now to sound impressive!
The next day in La Serena involved a beach and then a total piss up back at the hotel resulting in me doing some weird dance with a scarf round my head and then an attempt to bash part of the group´s door in to get my imaginary flip flops..."GIVE ME MY F*CKIN FLIP FLOPS NOW!"
Lovely long long bus ride to Santiago on the 14th Feb... just what you need after a heavy night... needless to say a plastic bag was on my lap for the whole journey and the window was wide open, freezing all of the rest of the passengers!
After arriving at Santiago on the 14th Feb we went out to a weird club that had a mixture of techno with rap "El Tunel" so classy!
The next day I went on a day trip to Valparasio and Vino del Mar ... beaches and sailors with the hats!
On the 16th Feb I spend the whole day trying to get the impossible to obtain Venezuelan Visa.. still no joy!
17th Feb Paula´s city tour of Santiago then sushi which tasted amazing after three months of not eating anything remotely like it!
Night bus followed to Pucon, day spent relaxing and then a girlie night in with a big meal cooked in the first hostel with a usable kitchen! On the 19th a small group of us go Hydrogliding which is basically lying on a little plastic board whilst "gliding" (yeah right!) over rapids... really cool but there were big rocks!
20th Feb- MY BIRTHDAY! Spend it climbing a volcano and then sleighing down it! At the time the climbing in a zig zag fashion with crampons and an icepick was bloody torture but at the top through the choking on sulphur I was in amazement at actually looking at the crate of this mammoth volcano! In the evening a few of the group chip in (one actually cooked!) for a delicious meal in the hostal followed by Dulce Leche cake (Authenticity as we are in South America!) and champagne and then the hot springs. Had a reallly memorable birthday and just want to quote here my thanks to Jesper, Dirk, Vicky and Lauren for creating that.
21st Feb.. travel to Puerto Varos a beautiful lakeside town. As the hot springs set everyone to sleep the night before we went out here instead.. yep they plied me with drinks .. I´m a victim!
Over and out (really geeky I know but I never know how to sign off these things!)...
