Sorry for being so late in updating this blog but it has been very hectic and for some reason the heat has made everything so exhausting! LOL what's the temperature in the UK again?!
Anyway after the 21st Feb drinking session the next day I felt ROUGH! Spent most of the day relaxing and taking in the lake views whilst eating empanadas. This is also where I discovered my addiction for Dulce Leche .. something that would end u being apparent later in (see 3rd March)!
23rd Febwas travel day leaving Chile and heading for Bariloche (chocolate central) arrive in the late evening there. Immediately can see a change in the views - alpine land where you could easily think you´re in Switzerland . The next day a few of us go exploring walking up Cerro Campanero (getting lost up there in the process- Que Dirrecion?) where we took in views that according to Lonely Planet feature in the top ten views of all time. We then travel to LLao LLao and take a very very quick dip in this icy lagoon before promptly settling on sunbathing instead! Back at the hostel we have this AMAZING Asado dinner (BBQ) and Argentinean wine obviously!
The next day I go off and do some kayaking which is perfect really apart from when the instructor popped out her shoulder and had to be rescued!
26th Feb we leave for Buenos Aires and an exceptionally long nightbus journey. Arriving in Buenos Aires the next day we doss about a bit getting over the total lack of sleep from the bus before heading out to a tango show - great fun with a tango class before hand although sadly hardly any men to practice with! After the show and dinner a few of us head to a nightclub - so differentto the UK as the whole place only started getting full at 3am!
28th Feb and the 1st March were pure tourist days where I saw the famous Casa Rosado where Eva Peron did a famous speech on the balcony (although she didn´t do the Madonna song you are thinking of!), La Boca district, political protest viewing down the main avenida, loads of Plazas, antique markets finished off with two nights of steak dinners!
2nd March - 6th March Crosss over by ferry - the easiest border crossing so far. Initial impressions … mullet haircuts and loads of people drinking from Mate cups! Visited Colonia, Montevideo and Salto - Colonia was beautiful and Montevideo well I went to the Cinema whilst there so that tells you something about the views really! Journey on the 3rd March to Montevideo was a massive wake up call for my addiction to Dulce Leche spread ...ended up leaking the stuff form pores!LOL Dulce Leche whilst sneezing is never a good look!
6th March - 7th March Night bus through Argentinean border then Brazilian border to Iguassu Falls. Spend day at Brazilian Iguassu Falls - absolutely stunning as we are able to walk right next to the waterfall and go up a tower viewpoint. Night spent celebrating Vicky´s birthday - drink, jumping in pool - consequently stubbing toe and being told to be quiet and then a nightclub with a weird band attempting to sing I Kissed a Girl in English but sounding like distressed aliens instead!
8th March DOSS TIME , visit to Paraguay which turned out to be a joke as all it was a stop at a market and shopping centre! Least I got a stamp for my passport and a knock off watch that may continue to work for at least a week!
9th March Visit to Argentinean side of Iguassu Falls - so much better. Fantastic views and a boat ride under the waterfalls that was so harsh! In a good way!
10th March was a mammoth travel day to Paraty … basically a beachy town and stop over before Ilha Grande.
