Day 5 began at 8am with us getting on a mini bus with 2 other people (Henrik and Josephine, from Sweden) and we headed for a local waterfall and national park. We all went in swimming which was cool, and then got back on the bus and got dropped off in the mountains. We then headed off on our 2 hour walk with our very funny and excentric guide 'Yute'. We soon found out he was a Sunderland fan. He had a very in depth knowledge of english football and even disliked chelsea cause of their money! Me and Burns were well impressed. We spent the rest of the day asking him questions about players and he kept telling us who was good and who was bad. He also introduced us to new phrases such as 'Dont Worry, Chicken Curry' and 'Half and 1 hour' (1 and a half hour). We settled for the night in a small remote village and played card games where the loser had charcoal rubed on their face so they looked like a panda.
Day 6 began with, you guessed it, Rain! We headed out on a 3 hour trek throuh landscape which can only be described as like the Island on the TV show Lost. We walked for ages, seeing the odd snake whilst walking through rivers and rice fields. After Lunch at a local village we got had a 1 hour elephant ride down the river in the baking hot sun. Mine and Helen's Elephant started out in the lead but we soon realised it was old and slow as it kept stopping to take a toilet break or eat some trees! After an hour or so we arrived at another village where we played football against the locals (toursists versus). The locals won but I got my trademark goal and showed a few flashes of skill. My feet got destroyed in my sandals and I got cuts and bruises from 15 yr old kids in boots kicking the hell out me! Luke and I then jumped off a bridge into a river as a shower, played some cards, ate some real nice food and went to bed.
Day 7 started early again at 8 and we got some life jackets on and then all 7 of us stood on a Bamboo raft which Yute had made, and sailed downstream. He kept shouting footballers at me and Burns and we would say if they were good or bad, we nicknamed him Andy Reid in honour of Sunderland. As we got further down the river the rapids got choppier and we jumped into the river and swam alongside the boat. We pushed Yute off which made us laugh and generally enjoyed the sun and floating down a river which is easiest described as like the one in the Film Apocalypse Now. We reached our final town and got a half and 2 hour drive home. We reached Chiang Mai and are going out for the night. Amazingly I bumped into Emily from REL who is at the same hostel as us! We had a good catch up and she is coming out with the 5 of us for food and drinks which is cool. Also, we met a guy called Ollie, who is from Basingstoke, Surrey and Berkshire people everywhere! We then headed out for a few Changs.
