Day 28 and I woke to some serious rain, yet again. We couldnt really do much all morning as the rain was so bad, the little roads and paths on the hill side had flooded and were like rivers. The sun did come through for a bit eventually and we managed an hour or so on the beach. We spent most of the day in a bar playing cards (the girls played scrabble), drank a couple beers and read our books. After that we went out for the evening to have some food at the Cosmic Restaurant. The food here was brilliant and very cheap. Afterwards, an English run bar was hosting a pub quiz so we decided to enter, 2 teams, me Laura and Burns as one team, Luke Helen and Watford Matt as the other team. Our team managed 34 out of 60, not bad considering. Helen Luke and Matt didnt fair to well...24. Was all good fun though and the quiz man was rather funny, though half his answers were wrong. example, "What score does a golfer have is he scores a 'snowman'? ". Simply, the answer is 8, but he was adamant it was 3 over par on any hole, which doesnt even make sense. Anyway, we headed back about 12-1ish and all went to bed, not after Burns bought a dirty rank kebab stick, which looked worse than the BBQ Pit (A Camberley Kebab Shop) on a friday night.
Day 29 and I awoke to sunshine, so we headed to the beach, but not for long as the rain came in forcing us into an early lunch. We spent the next few hours eating, playing cards and watching the reruns of the football the night before. We didnt really do anything during the afternoon and in the evening we decided as it was our last night in Phi Phi to head out to the far side of the Pier for the night. We found a bar with a Fire Show, Carpe Diem. We sat down with a couple of beers and then the locals started up a skipping rope which was on fire. They beckoned the tourists in, Luke was the only one of us to go in and try and jump through it, and he even had the nerve to do a backflip through it. Needless to say the locals loved him from that point on. After the skipping rope came the lmibo competition (The limbo bar was on fire!). Laura entered this as well and was really rather good!. We chilled out for a few more hours and then headed back to the Rock, and packed our things as we had a 9am ferry to Krabi to catch the next day.
Day 30 and we were up and about by 8am with all our stuff on a hot sunny day (typical as we were leaving). As we were heading to the pier, the girls stopped at a Bakery and wanted to buy some cakes and things for breakfast. It was then that we learned that the girls had been coming here at somepoint everyday to buy croissants and cakes for 50p a pop! Women and cakes eh. We boarded the ferry and arrived in Krabi about 11am local time. We then got a longtail boat to Railay beach which is a small secluded bay with some lovely beaches. We wandered around for ages trying to find somewhere to stay but ended up getting some food. Me and Luke ordered Mashed Potato and Gravy which didnt turn up after about 30 minutes. I asked the waiter about the food, and then 2 plates of cold mash and gravy arrived. Luke was so dissapointed with the mash he refused to eat it and gave it back. I wasn't to bothered but asked for it to be warmed up. 20 minutes and 1 microwaved plate later I had my warm mash. After this Burns and I sat on the beach for about an hour while the other 3 got lost looking for somewhere to stay. We eventually ended up at a place called Cabana. We had nice huts but they were filled with bugs. We ate at a really really good restaurant called The Rock, where we had a MASSIVE burger for next to nothing, seriously, only the Hurricane burger from Uni could rival it.
Day 31 and we decided to make our way to Tonsai Beach, which is another bay near Railay. We didnt realise that we had to trek over a small mountain to get there. We spent about 45 minutes walking up and down rocky terrain and eventually found Tonsai beach which was well worth it. We spent a few hours lieing in the sun and going in the sea to cool down from the dripping sweat all over as it was sooo hot. We then had lunch where Coops (Laura) spent a good 30 mins playing with a baby kitten and being mesmerised by it, (admittingly it was very small). She cannot help herself round animals, shes like a female Dr Doolittle. After Lunch, Luke had a delivery to make, one of his work mates from back home had lived in Tonsai for 6 months and so he had some CD's and a flag to deliver to the bar he worked in. Amazingly, the Thai man behind the bar, Thomas, was expecting him! After this we chilled out some more and then got a longtail boat back to Railay where we played frisbee on the beach in front of the sunset. We ate at the Rock again as it was the best place and by far the cheapest. Afterwards me and Burns found a bar showing late night football while the others went back for an early night as they were planning on some rock climbing in the morning.
Day 32 and the other 3 had long gone to early morning climbing when me and Burns made our way to Railay east to investigate boats to Krabi town. Then we headed to Railay west to get some food and soak up the sun before the others returned. When they did return they were all throughly pleased and really enjoyed the climbing, but they were already complaining about aching limbs. They had lunch at the same place we did just off the beach, The Sand Sea Resort. Their lunch didnt go as planned. Helen and Luke both ordered Chicken Burgers, Helens arrived looking like someone had just stuff loads of veg and green paste together and called it a chicken burger. She didnt really eat any, and when Lukes burger arrived, (30 minutes and 2 requests later) his actually looked like Chicken, which made Helen less than impressed. At this moment Coops kicked off and was less than happy with the service and the food. Burns and I wondered what all the fuss was about, but were probably just lucky we didnt order burgers. Once the comotion was over we sat on the beach and were dead lazy all afternoon. We played some frisbee (I say we, Luke was Aching and complaining of pain all over so sat it out). My toe, after the injury on Koh Phangnan, was pretty much healed so I was able to sprint left and right trying to catch Burns's very inaccurate throws. Once again we ate at The Rock, and then headed back for an early night. As I was just dozing off and getting ready for a good nights sleep, Helen, who was updating her journal, started smacking me and being all agitated. I looked up and she was silently pointing to an absolutely huge cockroach. It was Massive. I sat and watched it as it crawled up the bathroom door. Needless to say, Helen wasnt going to get rid of it, so I had to usher it out with a flip flop as it buzzed its way round the room. After this incident, Helen couldnt sleep so she watched 3 episodes of Peep Show on my Ipod, then showered, then struggled to go to sleep. She woke up in the morning and complained that all she dreamt about was large bugs.
Day 33 and we woke early and got a longtail boat to Krabi. We arrived about midday and checked into a nice hostel with good showers and beds. We spent the afternoon getting familiar with our surroundings and having an English Breakfast. I also found out Lewis Hamilton won the F1 Championship. Luke and I had haircuts at 1 pound 30 pence a go. Much better value than Kerry Roberts back home. The rest of the day was spent lazing about and wandering round a market.
