Day 111 and I was up at 5am feeling a bit worse for ware. After a quick cleaning of the teeth I headed downstairs and found Burns asleep on the sofa, typical. We walked down Queen street in broad daylight and sweltering heat at 530 in the morning. The Pig and Whistle bar was really busy as it was run by a brit and was showing live football. Liverpool drew 1-1 which was gutting and about 8am we both walked back and got back into bed. At 1030 we got up and sat by the pool and read for a bit whilst jumping in the water every now and then. We played some scrabble which I won at. Burns was still in bed and didnt surface till later in the afternoon. We walked to Woolies and bought dinner, Shephards pie, and also BBQ stuff for the next day. Afterwards Laura and Luke walked to town while me and Helen had a wander round the block and then headed to the room. After a short nap we went to McDonalds to use their free internet. Later in the evening there was to be a qui so we had dinner early at 630. It took about 90 mins to cook and was pretty good. Our team name for the quiz was "Mary's been Sectioned??!!" in honour of Burns's T-Shirt. The girl running the quiz was a bit dim and even let people have answers that she wasnt sure about. She didnt really know the difference between Jesus and God which wasn't a good start. We got 27 out of 50 which wasnt to bad, but hence, didnt win. The girls ordered some wedges and also had some chocolate cake in the room. Us lads went up to bed about 12, after a few $10 jugs of VB.
Day 112 and I woke with the bed making the loudest creaks ever. You could barely move without waking the other 7 people in the dorm. We were up and ready by 930 and walked a short distance to what we thought was the bus stop to Brisbane Forest Park. When we got there however we realised there wasnt a bus there and the guy at the hostel who told us which bus to get was clearly incompetent. We then walked another 30 mins to the Bus station where, after 15 minutes of searching we found the correct bus stop. We got to the forest about 12 and asked the information desk the nearest place to have our BBQ. She told us they didnt do BBQ's. She made things worse by telling us there might be the chance of seeing deadly snakes if we ventured down the path. This put us off somewhat so we paid $4 and went in the wildlife centre. We then got a bus BACK to Brisbane city centre and found the Southbank Park which had BBQ's and an outdoor swimming pool. The Barbie went well, with us cooking burgers and kebabs. Helen, Luke and I went in the pool which was only a metre deep but enough to refresh us. After the swim we had an ice cream and then walked 20 minutes back to Bunk. We hit the bar and got on the $10 jugs of beer and snakebite for the girls. We had several jugs, the girls went to bed first, and Luke went to Maccy D's to upload photos. On the way up to bed we got caught up some aggro with a drunk Irish guy getting evicted. It was our last night in Brisbane and we would be heading to Noosa the following morining.
Day 113 and we had another early start at 830 and we had to check out by 10. It was very very humid and even started raining, which was normal for travelling day. There was very little done during the morning, other than us seeing a Praying Mantis on a window. Our shuttle bus took us to the Greyhound stop at 12 where we met to lads from the Midlands, Dale and Adam. We commented on how we didn't know any other Dale's. On the bus I listened to several podcasts of Karl Pilkington and couldn't control myself from Laughing out loud. We arrived in Noosa at 4pm and had to wait ages for a pickup. While waiting Coops told us another cracking 'Coopism' about how when she was Drunk and you had to catch Rabbits, they knew you were drunk and only ran away at the last second, whereas when your sober, they just run away normally. Crazy girl. The hostel seemed nice on first impressions and we headed to the kitchen as we were entitled to a free meal. I had Chilli Con Carne and loved it, though it wasnt very filling. As we talked about this, Coops and Helen both mentioned how all their friends and family who read both mine and Lukes blog, say that all we talk about is food. This started a debate about food which led to me writing this into the blog. As Laura apparently told her Mum, "If we dont do much in the day, we are always thinking about our next meal". After dinner we walked to town and got a KFC snack box. The town was completely dead, barely a person walking around, and it was only 9pm on a Thursday. There was a Cinema on the high street and we agreed we'd prob end up there if the weather was bad. Back in the room Coops, Luke and I watched Heroes, and then all complained about how hot and humid it was. We all tried to sleep whilst lying in pools of our own sweat.
Day 114 started at 9 and the room was like a sauna. All the others were complaining at not being able to sleep. I slept fine, but they do say that I'm a heavy sleeper. We headed to the pool for an early morning swim to cool off and Burns started displaying his unique technique to diving. Luke also tried a backslapper, jumping backwards into the pool with his back slapping against the water. It was horrific. The slap was so loud and he was in agony but we all found it well funny. After drying off we headed to town as it was overcast and we watched the film 'Yes Man' starring Jim Carrey. Quite a good film, although very rude and not suitable for all the young kids in there. Afterwards it was 1pm and you guessed it, lunch time. We had lunch in town and then headed back to the hostel for a lazy afternoon. Burns showcased more of his diving to the people in and around the pool. It really is something to be seen. We have a video of the first one he did in Thailand and we need to upload it so people can watch. After a read of the books and an afternoon nap Burns and I headed to the bar and had a few beers with some cards. The others joined us later on, and we met up with 2 lads Dale and Adam and we sat around ofr an hour or so. The beers came in 285ml glasses which was weird as it was the only size drink they did. All the Aussies we've met dont understand what a 'Pint' is. For dinner, Burns and I had the chilli con carne from the bar, while the girls and Luke had Baked Potato and Beans (we would have ours tmoro). The girls headed to the room early as they were tired and they wanted to wash their hair. This was because we were going to the Zoo tmoro and they wanted their hair to be nice for their photos with the Koalas!
Day 115 and we had all sorts of alarms going off at 7am. After all getting changed and ready we got the shuttle bus to the main bus station where the Zoo bus would take us an Hour south to the Australia Zoo, which is run and owned by Steve Irwins family. The Zoo was massive and the first thing we saw when there were massive Komodo Dragons and lots of lizards just roaming about the place. On our way to the Crocodile show we had our photos taken with a Koala for a small fee. The girls loved this and kept mentioninghow cute they looked. At 11 we headed to the Crocoseum where Terri Irwin and her children came out and did a show with birds, lizards and of course, Crocodiles. It was like a gameshow with the zoo keepers wearing microphones and there being lots of loud music and a big screen. The crocodile was awesome and the keepers tried to show it doing a death roll and jumping out the water. After the show we headed to the Kangaroo gardens where we were able to walk about freely with Kangaroos hopping about the place. We fed them some prepared pellets and got some excellent photos. It was so hot and by this time us lads had 'de-shirted' and had sweat everywhere. It was like Thailand all over again! We had our lunch, Ham sandwhiches while walking through the other areas of the zoo. Notable sites were the tigers, the elephants, more Koalas, wombats, and the biggest snake in Australia, Lilly, who was 7.8 metres long and weighs 150kg. After a walk round the final few areas we came back to the entrance and got the bus back home, which we all slept on as we were exhausted. Once back we checked out Noosa beach and then got the back to the hostel. Burns and I jumped in the pool to get over the sweating while the girls went to find some dinner. Us lads had our Potato and beans and then retired back to the room where we chilled out for the evening.
