Day 133 and after the mother of all bus journeys we arrived at Fingerboard Road (a pickup point for 1770) at 930am and got a shuttle to the town itself. The driver insisted on playing heavy dance music as loud as possible which didnt go down to well with a load of tired and grumpy backpackers. We checked into Cool Bananas at 10 and found it to be one of the best hostels we have stayed in. In town we went on the internet and also bought dinner, which was to be Kangaroo Burgers! Whislt on the net we also booked our flights to and from Ayers Rock and also paid for the tour itself. This took a hefty toll on our bank accounts. After a shower at the hostel we hit the beach and played cricket, well a form of cricket where you get 5 balls each. At one point Coops managed to hit the ball into her face, but she toughed it out and carried on. After 30 mins we were all shattered after running around so we briefly went into the sea, although we were all sllightly sceptical about the chance of seeing Stingers. As we headed back to the hostel it got very dark and chucked it down just as we got inside. I had a shower and thought I had brough the beach back there was so much sand on me. We sorted Greyhound tickets on the internet, watched Bruce Almighty in the lounge and then Fight Club. Laura then went to a Yoga class down the road while the rest of us played scrabble, and got hungry so me and Helen went and cooked the Roo Burgers, with Mash, Peas, and Gravy. The burgers were really nice, tasted something between lamb and beef. After dinner we played Cluedo which caused some friction. I have played Cluedo once before with the girls, and I didnt quite get it, so when we last played, I went first and just guessed the person, weapon and room and got it right first time. No one was to happy with this, so I was slightly reluctant to play, but we did. Laura went first, then Luke, then on my go, I guessed right. The others couldnt believe this so we dealt up another game. I went first, and you'll never guess what happened, I guessed right again. The others got very annoyed now and so I refused to play another round. Instead I read my book and went to bed.
Day 134 and me Helen and Luke went to the surf shop at 10am to try and do a surt lesson for $22. We got there and there wasnt many people and eventually the surf shop guy told us there wernt many waves so he wasnt going to do it. We headed back and on the way to the hostel we met some lads we knew from Airlie beach as they were staying in Cool Bananas. Luke bought some Zinc for his nose, but bought a horrible colour. He put way to much on his nose and looked ridiculous. Burns spent the whole morning on the laptop sorting photos. The other 4 of us went to the beach and met Mark and Shaun and sunbathed as the sun was well and truly out. We taught them how to hoff and lazed about. On the way back to he hostel it started raining so we got back just in time. There was a bloke in the hostel giving free clay masks (which is good for bites and sunburn) so we all did that and started to play scrabble. The Clay guy then got into a full on convo and debate with us and started talking about how the whole world were customers to the worlds medical market and how certain natural remedies he knew could cure lods of things. He even thought he there were cures for aids, cancer and all sorts, all by eating grass... After Scrabble we did laundry and booked Greyhound for Rainbow beach. For Dinner Coops and Luke had the hostels own Pesto Pasta for $5 while me Burns and Helen had Fish and Chips for $5. After dinner we had some beers in the hostel and played P&A with Mark while watching Troy. After P&A, we all watched The Dark Knight (me and burns having beers along the way). About an hour into it Burns went to bed as he was passing out. We went to bed about 12ish knowing we had to get up at 6am for our bus.
Day 135 and the alarms went off at 6 and but Burns was the only to get up and move. By 615 the rest of us realised we needed to get up so there was a mad rush to finish packing and get ready. It was chucking it down with rain and the bus was due to leave at 630. I Was first one out to the bus stop and the others hurried over in the pouring rain. The bus stopped at 9am for breakfast and Burns had not 1, but 2 pies. Luke had a sarnie, then a Pie. I managed just a sarnie. We reached Rainbow beach at 1230. Me and Helen had a double room, while the others had a dorm. After a walk to the local supermarket, we bought dinner, Spag bol, and then had more pies for lunch. The bakery did a discount on all cakes after 2pm, so we waited half an hour for 2 to come around then bought cakes for 50 cents. We then back to the room and had a nap, although Burns didnt as he borrowed a basketball and was shootin hoops for a few hours. After the nap, people were watching Blood Diamond on the lounge TV, so me Helen and Burns started cooking the Spag bol. The hobs were awful, and the kitchen was really crowded. It took us about 45-60 mins to cook dinner but it was well tasty. After dinner we did a crossword and an arroword in a girly mag and got hooked and ended up doing all the puzzles in the magazine. We watched Hot shots, but Coops could only stand about 20 mins of it so she went to bed. Us lads loved it as we used to watch it a lot at Uni, and there were some classic scenes which had us in stitches.
Day 136 and after a decent lie in we all met up about 10 for a trip to the shops. Luke went to feed the dolphins early morning and got back at 9am but said it was pretty rubbish as there was only 3 dolphins and one of them he fed had been mauled by sharks. We booked our greyhound tickets to Noosa and then walked to the sand blow, which is a massive sand dune area which is in the shape of a valley. It took a good 30 mins to walk up some massive hills to get there. Luke and Burns wandered off soe pathway while me and girls went he other way. Coops wrote in the sand and the girls did an S Club 7 style jump for a photo. After the sand we went to the shops abd bought dinner, stirfry. and got more cheap cakes from the bakery. Helen bought some new flip flops as her old ones broke. Back at the hostel we played scrabble then watched War of the Worlds and then had dinner. In the room we played more crosswords and puzzle things as it was becoming the new rage, taking over from scrabble. We went to bed and would be leaving for Noosa in the morning.
