Day 47 and after a long day of travelling yesterday we all had a decent lie in till about 11am. Our room was quite crampt as it was only designed for 4 people. We got ready and decided to wander around Chinatown and look for some breakfast. We found a small food area with loads of outlets serving local chineese and Indian food. Burns Luke and I all had some rice, local curry and veg. It was well nice, even at 11 in the morning. The girls on the other hand weren't so keen and opted to wait for something a little lighter on the way. Helen found a Bakery, Coops had nothing. Whilst I was buying some now mandatory Chocolate Milk, I also made a fatal mistake, of leaving our map in the shop. Needless to say the others werent to happy with this, but I was happy as my milk was awesome. We were heading to the Lake Garden on the West of the City, and on the way walked through the Planetarium.' Once in the park, there didnt seem an awful lot to do as we wandered around. Eventually we found a bench under some cover and sat down. It started raining instantly, so we were kinda stuck. We improvised and started playing Boggle, not the original kind, we used scrabble letters to make a letter square and used our own pen and paper to write the answers. I have noticed that Helen is the master at getting 3 letter words. We also played Bloody Mary, which Helen lost at, and pairs with the cards, which Helen was again excellent at. Once the rain had died down we wandered to a playground park designed for 12 yr olds and got burns going on the slides. We eventually got bored and got a taxi back to the hostel (it was still raining on and off). Later on we walked towards the golden triangle and had a curry where they got our orders wrong and the service was slow. After that we headed for a electronics mall where Luke was keen to buy a cheap laptop. After an hour or 2 searching he bought one and we immediately went to Starbucks (much to Laura's liking - she loves Frappacinos) to test the internet.
Day 48 started at 6am when we woke early and headed off to the Petronas Towers. We had to be up early as the free tickets go on sale at 830am and there are only about 500 per day. We got the Light Railway during rush hour, but it was no where near as bad as the Underground! We arrived with only about 30 other people in front of us. The Line by the ticket counter was formed of newspapers, bags and notepads as people were saving their spots. We used a Billabong Hat, Paracetamol, a rain jacket, Vaseline, and some sun tan lotion. Once the ticket counter opened we got tickets for 9am and were allowed on the Skybridge on the 41st floor for 10 minutes. The views were awesome. It was a bit overcast but good none the less. Afterwards we headed to the Kraft Centre, which in truth was rubbish. The highlights were the kids playground out front where there was a seesaw and monkey bars, and Luke apparently being offered a taxi just as he had come out of a toilet cubicle by some random man. We headed for the shopping mall next, but we gave in to cravings and each had a subway on the way (apart from Luke but im sure he regrets it). The girls bought some clothes while us guys just wandered around aimlessly. Afterwards we intended to go to Chow Kit market, but got lost so went back to the hostel. We had some brilliant food for dinner at a local restaurant, and after went to the local 7 Eleven to get some cheap booze. Helen bought some Gin, Sprite, and Cookies, while the rest of us got Whiskey, Coke and crisps. We played drinking games in the room for ages, and eventually hit the hay about 2am.
Day 49 and we woke slightly later than normal due to the drinking. We each had an English style breakfast at the roof bar of our hostel which was excellent, Beans on Toast for 60p! We headed for Chow Kit food market, got there, and then realised it was basically a local food market and there was nothing that would remotely interest us. It then promptly rained, really heavily, as per usual. We managed to run to the Monorail and headed towards the main shopping centre where I bought some T Shirts, as did Luke. We then sat down at Muffin Corner (it was a cafe place where we had bought muffins) and had a Chicken Pie and Chocolate brownie. Not very Malaysian but very tasty. For Dinner we gave into cravings once again. Initially we wanted to try Kenny Rogers Roasted Chicked which is apparently the best in the world, but it was shut at 9pm. Instead we crossed the road and had Nandos, which was quality. After a wander round Chinatown market we finished off the Whiskey, the girls and Luke watched loads of episodes of the Inbetweeners while me and Burns continued our 2 Player Blackjack Rivalry (not pontoon version, the one where you pick up 7 cards if someone lays a black jack).
Day 50 and we all woke up early to make the most of the Wi-Fi internet using Lukes Laptop. We decided to head to Desa Waterpark, which is about 10 km outside KL city centre. We got off the train and tried to walk to the park (we thought it as about 1km away). After walking down the side of a highway for 5 minutes we figured we might be lost so we crossed a bridge, asked a man where the park was, he instantly said, cross back over the bridge and go back the way you came. We eventually got a taxi and realised we could never have walked it, it was miles away. Even our taxi driver got lost. Once at the waterpark we set about causing as much chaos as possible. We started out doing races down the waterslides, I won all my races, Helen lost all hers. We then had a go on some floating stones, like in Takeshis castle. We started trying to sprint across them and got told off. The next area was the lazy river, which I jumped in thinking it was deep, when in fact it was barely 2 feet deep. This part was pretty boring so we got off and queued for the Thunderbolt River. This was the main ride in the park and was basically a round dingy which 2-3 people got in and it threw you round a high and fast slide. Me and Helen went in the first, and I stacked it in front of everyone. It seemed to be funny for them but it wasn't for me. On the way round Helen looked so scared I couldn't stop laughing, I was literally rolling around the dingy. We then went to the wave machine where we continuously dunked and submerged each other till we finally had one more go on the skipping stones. We also saw a really small fat kid fall out of his tube which had me and Luke in stitches. We were crying from laughter and the girls couldnt figure out why, he was really small and round and looked so funny when he fell over. We finally convinced the guard to let us sprint across the Takeshi stones which led to some almighty splashes and funny falls. We even got a crowd of amazed kids watching and cheering us on. The guard claimed it was easy to we dared him to do it, and he almost did, but he fell on the last one much to our amusement. Once we got back to the hostel and showered we went out for the most amazing curry of the trip so far. A massive plate of Birianyi rice, Beef curry, and a Naan for next to nothing. We were all stuffed and headed back to the room. I watched some heroes, then we played Scatagories, which Luke won for the first time, he was very happy with himself.
Day 51 and this was to be our last full day in KL. We started out by sleeping in... till midday, we felt like being lazy to start with. The room was full of ants from the last few nights where we had spilt food and drink all over the floor. We had breakfast in Chinatown market then walked to the Shopping mall where we intended to do some shopping as everything is well cheap. After buying xmas presents and all sorts (Burns however only bought dental floss) we headed home, showered and then went out for our overdue Kenny Rogers meal. It was ok, not as good as Nandos, but still good food. Afterwards we decided our last major thing to do in KL was go up the KL tower. We got there just after dark and 276 metres up the views were amazing. We couldnt really get any good photos though as the glass reflected all the pictures. We had a final wander around Chinatown market where we saw some absolutely amazing sunglasses. We tried them on and laughed at the seller because he told us he had never sold a pair before.
