Hi all,
So it's my last full day in LA today and I am flying home tomorrow evening. I am already anticipating major post holiday blues but I will be doing something like this sometime again in the future so lets not get into that now.
Last time I blogged, I was in San Fran and that was on Saturday. During the day I just went sightseeing and then in the afternoon I went shopping which was good fun. I really love the fashion here everyone says that England has the best high street but I'm beginning to disagree. I love the casual but smart look that they have going over here and a little thing called the exchange rate is genius.
In the evening I was looking forward to Saturday night in San Fran. I had anticipated a nice bar with a dance floor, cocktails etc. However what I forgot was I was on Contiki = budget travel. So we went out for a Chinese which was meant to be in the Chinese Quarter but instead was just outside the Chinese Quarter. And then we rolled up at a sodding Irish pub to say I was pissed off is to put it mildly. This place was so horrible, let me set the scene it was basically a place for students to go to in the evening i.e. plastic cups, sticky floors, cheesey music they played Dancing Queen for goodness sake. However, me and my friends just thought okay lets stick this out with the group for a little bit and then move on. So we had a few drinks and then decided to move on. Once out of the club, we couldnt seem to hail a taxi and so between the eight of us we got a limo. The photos from the limo are hilarious. We asked the limo driver to take us to Castro which is a nice place in San Fran but because it was late and he seemed to be under the assumption we wanted to party all night we got taken to this awful club which was apparently open till 7am. We got in and it was even worse than the Irish pub so we didnt stay there very long either. We in the end got back to the hotel and around 3am and then just had a room party. It was a big night but not quite what I had anticipated. So I will have to go back to San Fran to experience it how I wanted to.
Yesterday we were in Santa Barbara which was nice not much to report there and today I'm back in LA and the weather is great. 'Tonight I'm meeting up with someone else from the tour who is also in LA. And then tomorrow it's home and Friday it's Italy how I'm going to make Minori exciting I don't know.
Contiki has been an experience. There's more to explain about Contiki than what I can say in this blog. You have to have a lot of stamina to keep up as it's like being at Uni again but without the studying - just sightseeing and partying. So I'm glad it's only been 2 weeks as I was starting to flag. The group I had was very big with a lot of loud and crude Australians but I made my own good friends - more to explain about the 'groups' when I get home. It's been very good fun though and I've liked where I have visited. My favourite places have been LA and Las Vegas (the most surreal place ever but brilliant).
Right I'm going to go now as I will probably be speaking to you soon and I want to get a hour by the pool in.
Much love,
P.xxx.
