Hi all again,
I've tried going to a different internet place today to see if i have any luck with my photos but still I am having no luck and it's really starting to annoy me now as I have so many photos to share.
Anyway, today I went on my city tour, the main reason I went was so that i could see the La Boca region in Buenos Aires. So they picked me up from my hotel at 9am and then we had a hour pick up from various hotels in the city - that was a bit borng. After that we went for a drive round some of the places I had seen already, then to Recoletta which I plan to go to tomorrow. Then finally we went to the La Boca region. First of all, we went to the Boca Juniors Stadium which was massive unfortunately we couldnt go inside as it was shut but could see the scale of it from the outside. There were loads of little memoribilia shops outside as well. I would have liked to have gone in but no can do.
We then drove onto Caminito still in La Boca which feels very much made for the tourists but I bought it. Plus we told not to go away from the tourist area, as this area is not safe. Anyway, this (tourist) area was really nice with lots of little coloured houses. There were plenty of touristy shops as well, and my people dancing the Argentine Tango on the streets. Again once I have sorted out my photo problem, you will see.
After we left La Boca, we went along the river and saw some of the Buenos Aires favela. From my geography background, i found this really interesting as the houses were built from all kinds of material but also what I wasnt expecting was that these tiny houses all had house numbers. It was quite sad to see though that people live in these kind of houses and conditons.
I decided to leave the bus at San Telmo as on a Sunday there is a market at Plaza Dorrego. This market had the feel of Portobello Market to it as it was a mix of antique and the usual jewelery, bags etc stalls. It took all my will power not to buy a leather jacket there, although I might go back for it as it was in a little shop, the thing is it's under 50 pound. Also typical me, in this massive market manages to find the one bag which is 200 pounds, so not all that cheap considering the excahnge rate, to be honest I thought it looked expensive but thought I'd try my luck to no avail.
Afterwards, I headed to Cafe Tortoni for a mid afternoon snack and have also booked to go watch the Tango show this evening, I'm very excited after seeing the dancers today. Mum - Cafe Tortoni is 50m down the road from me, i'm going to the first show at 8.30pm and its not very long. Afterwards, i will run back to the hotel.
So that's everything I have done today, its been busy but my best day here so far as I felt I was getting out and about in the city more.
Hope you are all well,
P.xxx.
