Hi again,
I?m trying to keep my blog up-to-date now as I imagine when the tour begins the opportunity to do so will be slightly less. First of all, apologies for no photos I have all the stuff here to do get the photos on to the computer but the computer is not recgonising my camera so can?t. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Today, I have been on a long walk around the city. My plan to visit museums did not happen as it seems they are shut on a Saturday. So?first of all, I decided to head to ?Florida?which is the main shopping street. I went to the ?Galerias Pacifico?which is a large shopping mall, and is very chic, it has Tiffanys and everything. I also saw what used to be the Harrods store which turns out to be very different from the one in London in that it is shut, run down and is basically not very nice. Also Mum there is a C&A here, how rich must that family be!!!
I then went to Plaza San Martin which is a large open park in the city. This was really nice and relaxed. I have some really nice pictures which I would show you but I can?t. Then I walked to the area known as ?Tribunales?which to be honest wasnt very interesting and the main building the ?Palacio de Justica?was being refurbished so couldnt really see very much. Anyway, this is where the seat of the supreme court is.
Then I walked to Congresso, this area was a bit run down and there were quite a few homeless people about. Anyway, I went there to see the ?Palacio del Congreso?which is a massive building, home of Argentina?s Federal Constitution?, the palace was inspired by the US model.
Then I went back to my hotel as I was meant to be doing a city tour this afternoon, seeing LA Boca and the Cerematory at Recoletta but surprise, surprise they didnt turn up. Anyway, I have booked to do a tour tomorrow with the hotel. Mum-before you ask, yes i am definately booked on the big tour.
Although, I said some of the areas I went to were a bit run down. There is a massive police presence on the streets here so I never really worry because I can always see a policeman in a orange jacket.
Finally, I just have to mention the roads here. Now thy are usually okay, thanks to a little flashing man who tells you when to walk. Howver, today near Plaza San Martin I discovered quite possibly the largest road ever to the cross apart from Avenida de Julio which has laods of lanes but luckily is split up into sections to cross. This road had about 10 lanes so basically the M25 and when the green man appeared I just legged it across as they don´t give you much time to cross. Not all that fun!
That?s all my news for now.? I wish I could upload my photos becau.se this would all make much more sense but no can do. Hope you are all well will catch up again soon.
P.xxx.
