We left Helen at Atlanta Airport and drove for 5 hours to Atlanta to pick her up again. We then drove for 2 more hours arriving in Ellijay at about 8:30 PM. The directions to the cabin were far from clear and after nosing cautiously along steep and winding mountain roads under a full moon we eventually lucked onto our cabin, "Serenity Now!". For us unfortunately it was serenity later because we had no food and no libations. We drove back to Ellijay and picked up some supplies. As soon as we got back to the cabin Helen and I started cooking. We finally sat down to dinner at 10:30 PM. It was so warm we sat out on the screened in porch and talked until half past two! The morning crept up on us. It was misty and overcast and the rain falling on the leaves lulled us back to sleep. After a late breakfast we went into the very artsy crafty shops of Blue Ridge. Like true tourists we meandered from shop to shop and found a few presents for the grandchildren. When we got back the cooks got busy in the kitchen and Phil lit the fire. After dinner Phil and Helen played two handed 500 and I downloaded pix for the blog. Next morning the sun was back so we decided to find the swinging bridge. First we located a post office and mailed our warm clothes to Tucson then tried to check out what was causing the car to make a truly awful sound. The three of us tried to inspect the underside of the car and all the wheel wells to see if a stick was caught up somewhere. As there was no apparent cause we decided to drive on and see if it stopped-which it finally did! Dinner was an interesting combination of whatever was left in the fridge. After reading and visiting around the fire we turned in since we had to leave early to make the flight to Nassau this morning. Today is Thanksgiving Day and we are very grateful to be on our way to The Bahamas. Especially as the prediction is for zero temperatures in the mountains we have just left.
