In the last blog, we were in Yosemite sleeping in our car and hiding from bears and lobsters. Now, we're in one of the most exclusive hotels on the Vegas Strip.
We flew from San Francisco to Las Vegas on the 26th because it was the cheapest and easiest option. However, when we arrived at the airport we noticed that Mak's name was spelled wrong on the ticket! Consequently, we were instantly put to one side with the other criminals for a full security check. Needless to say, this was not the most enjoyable experience. Once we arrived at Vegas, however, and jumped in the shuttle bus to the sounds of Axel F, we soon cheered up and it symbolised what was to come.
We checked in the Luxor (the pyramid hotel) which was a complete contrast to the night before with not a backpacker in sight. We spent the night exploring our hotel, which included bars, restaurants, museum, a wedding chapel, a cinema and a theatre!
We got up pretty late the next day, and decided to explore The Strip in the midday desert sun (110F/45C). On that evening, we headed for the Stratosphere (a 900 foot viewing tower) to check out Vegas by night. Then we went for a little gamble and Crust broke the house with a win of $20. Mak and Paul won and lost a whole dollar, but that's how it goes in this crazy billionaire lifestyle!
After a heavy session on the tables, we checked out the main casinos, such as, the Bellagio, the MGM Grand and New York New York. They all had their own style, but the Bellagio is clearly the most prestigious.
We got up early to hire a car, and now we're off to the Grand Canyon. See you there!
