From the crazy glitz of Las Vegas, we now report from the much sleepier Grand Canyon in the Arizona State, after another 5 hour journey by hire car (grand effort Crust).
Our route took us through baron dessert and over the Hoover Dam, finally arriving at 6pm. We check into some basic, but clean accommodation just outside the Grand Canyon National Park. After the long journey we were too tired to go into the park so we look for somewhere to eat, and as we are in Cowboy Country it's either steak or big steak. Mak and Paul order the standard 8oz steak and are alpha-maled by Crust who decides that only the 16 ouncer will do!
We arose as early as the desert sun ready for a day at the Canyon. En route, we bought the obligatory cowboy hat and Paul found a CD that for some unknown reason had not blessed his collection before - 'The Best Cowboy Songs Ever', including classics such as "My spurs, they go jingle jangle" and "tumbling tumbleweed" ?who could blame him!!
It was slightly different from what we expected, it was basically a road around the top of the Canyon with various stop off points for pictures. But with cowboy tunes blazing and the sheer vastness of the Canyon, it was hard not to be impressed. After complaining about the heat a storm passed through and it soon became cold, wet and windy?which we obviously complained about and decided that we preferred the sun! Brits on Tour!
After a day in the park we went for dinner at the aptly named "we cook pasta and pizza" so knew exactly what we were in for. Mak went for the all American "bacon cheeseburger pizza" and vowed never to eat another cheeseburger or pizza again!
As you may have guessed we don't like to hang about for long so the next day we packed up at 8am and headed for Los Angeles?..so see you there xxx
