Journal brought to you by Sophie
This morning was a manic rush to catch the bus to Surfer's Paradise as Tami was still packing as the transfer bus came to get us! At the bus stop we met Luke and Holly who were also going there. OUr hostel is really nice with a pool in the front garden and is literally a 10 SECOND walk to the beach. What a wonderful location! Our room mates are equally as nice. There are two girls travelling together called Dominique and Bernie (Bernadette) and a Liverpudlian teacher called Mirium. Bernie is leaving tomorrow to go back to England as she is going to a wedding. I am so jealous because I want to go home to take all my souvenirs and rubbish that I don't need back and pick up some fresh new clothes and properly wash my old clothes. Washing stuff in cold water washing machines does absolutely b***** all. My dinner is still down my white top from TWO weeks ago. Ah well that is the life of a backpacker.
Tami and I dumped our stuff and then went for a walk into the city. It is so touristy and tacky but I absolutely loved it! It was so my type of place. We went into all the souvenir shops including the oddly named 'Condom Shop' which sold a variety of madness. We also saw some people we knew from Byron in the supermarket. It is so true that you meet people all the way up the coast. It is craziness. Oh yeah and I also went to report my stolen Ipod but apparently as we are in the state of Queensland now I can only file a report with NSW Police division. They gave me a number to ring.
Back at the ranch we exchanged our flip flops for running shoes and went for a jog along the beach front. It was absolutely beautiful. We had the bright lights of the city twinkling on one side of us and the sun setting down over the sea on the other side of us. It was absolutely beautiful and very thought provoking.
We had dinner, played cards with some English boys and then went to bed. Lovely and relaxing day.
