Sunday 1st April
Journal entry brought to you by Tami
Happy April Fool?s Day to one and all!
At breakfast this morning Cat, Kush and I had a lame attempt at playing a joke on Sophie and swapped her spoon for her pen while she was getting juice. It really wasn?t funny at all but we found it hilarious and at least we were keeping with tradition. We then got changed and headed out to the Byron Bay market which meets once a week. It was HUGE, like the most massive market ever, and every stall was interesting. I ended up buying three bracelets, an anklet, two headscarves and a pair of sunglasses to replace the ones I lost two days before. (Yes, I know I?m hopeless, but me and sunglasses just don?t seem to go to well together. I?m now on my fourth pair).
We then went back to the hostel so Soph could cook some lunch, and then we all rented body boards to go to the sea. Mine was an awesome pink one. Cat?s looked like it was going to fall apart. We had SO much fun on the beach but the waves were really massively strong and there was a rip in the water that nearly drowned us all at various points. It was quite scary. We also found out later that we had been about 200 metres from the ?Safe swimming? zone. Ha. But it was a lot of fun! We walked back up to the hostel and went in the pool and hot tub again. We then planned to go to the Buddha bar but by the time we had bothered to get ready it was about 11.30pm and apparently it was closed, so we wandered into town instead. We began queuing for Cheeky Monkeys but after being in a one-in-one-out queue for 30 minutes and not moving we just decided to give it a miss and went to the Northener instead for a couple of rounds. Then Cat and I headed back to the hostel and Soph and Kush went off in search of an open club. They came back about 5 minutes after us. We went to bed thoroughly tired, the sea exhausts me I?ve decided!
