We finally made it to Mount Gambier! We drove up to the Blue Lake to have a look and it is really blue. There are two lakes situated in old volcano craters not far from each other, only a few kilometres. Blue lake is a very turquoise blue and Valley Lake is green. How can they be so close and so different. Blue Lake also changes colour, in winter it is a steel grey colour and in summer it gets the turquoise blue colour. I haven't found a reason for why it does this and I really want to know. Beautiful however!
Mount Gambier also has a sinkhole garden. It was first made into a garden in the late 1800's, at that time it had a little lake in it but now it is just a garden. There was also a smaller sinkhole garden in the town centre but we didn't manage to get into see that one.

Today we had our first day in Victoria. The landscape is a little bit different, rolling hills and paddocks with lots of sheep and cows. It is also a little bit greener.
The goal today was The Grampians National Park. Thank you to Margaret and Brent who recommended this to us, otherwise we may not have chosen to drive this way. It is a beautiful mountain range with some spectacular scenery. We got here late in the afternoon so we decided that we will stay 2 nights so that we can have a proper look around tomorrow.
We are staying at the Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park, great spot! We had a snack when we got here and then we went for a swim in the outdoor heated pool. We could have been in there for hours without getting cold. The kids had a great time splashing around and even Max noted that he wasn't shaky (cold). But we needed some food so we had to get out. We actually sat outside too eat tonight for the first time in a long while. The only down side to that, a bird shat in our food!!! It did get a little bit cold towards the end of the meal as well.
After dinner while I was doing the dishes (I miss our dishwasher!!!!), I could see kangaroos jumping around in the field behind the little cottages they have in the park and earlier I had seen an Emu there as well. Actually as we drove into the caravan park we saw three deer just at the entrance. Also, when Patrik came back from the loo, he was met by a huge kangaroo just in front of our caravan. It didn't care one bit that he came around the corner, just kept eating. The ad for the caravan park did say that they had kangaroos, emus and deer and we have already seen them all!

We have really enjoyed having a look around The Grampians National Park today. Wish we could have done some hikes but that is just too difficult with two little ones. We did one short walk, 1km out to a lookout point and then 1km back. It took us 1.5 hours, including stopping to look at the view and building a little rock tower. That is us carrying the kids for half the time as well. It was fun though. We didn't have time to do much else before lunch, so of we went into the little town Halls Gap. It's very small but it has all you could need.
After lunch we headed up into the mountains again and had a look at some other lookout points. Then we headed back into town to do some food shopping and then back to the caravan park for a swim in the lovely heated pool and BBQ dinner.
We saw more kangaroos today just before we went for the swim, there were about 10-15 of them out in field behind the caravan park. There are also lots of cockatoos flying around making lots of noise but thankfully they stop their squawking at night.
Apart from all the kangaroo poo and birds s***ting in our food, this is one of the nicer caravan parks we have been in so far. The location is also fantastic, love the Grampians!
