"Budget rears it's ugly head. Mom loses her mind momentarily" Might be a fitting title for Sunday's adventure. AG has decided to go tribal and see how his hair looks after a year of growth. But, the girls and I decided it was time for a trim. In a total lapse of judgement we bought hair scissors and a Clairol home dye kit and decided to do it ourselves. The girls' turned out fine as they have simple cuts. Mine was sort of a disaster. (Pics to follow.) Celeste did a pretty good job for a 13 year old who has never cut hair before. I take all the blame. Who would let their kids loose with scissors on their hair? When all was said and done there were so many laughs. I hope they remember that forever. Bonus - we all went out to a great Austrian dinner with the money we saved! The girls had schnitzel and added that to their list of new foods. I had much wine!
The next morning ASAP I found a salon. When I told Reemon, the owner, of my situation he took off my hat and said, "Trust me baby. Today I not only cut your hair, I perform surgery". The girls were with me and we laughed so hard. More winners from Reemon..."I have heard of girls doing this to their Barbie's, but never their mothers" and "I will teach you a word to say while you are in Austria. Schon means beautiful. You might say Vienna is schon. You would not say your hair is schon." So Reemon saved me from looking like a mushroon, but had to cut off tons of hair. I am wearing it short these days (understatement of the year).
We had a fun day yesterday at an interactive museum about music. The girls conducted an orchestra, wrote a symphony and listened to sounds from all over the world, including what it sounds like on Neptune, inside a cave in Mexico and farts. AG said we didn't need to pay the price of admission to hear that one!
Today we head to Croatia. With one major stop on the way. We will be taking the A2 (Amy & Anthony???) to Graz, Austria. We have one goal on our stopover...to find tees that say I heart Graz. If that falls short I have researched and there is a University of Graz. We will all be getting souveniers today!
