Day 6 Yulara to Tennant Creek. Phew, that's a fair hike (about 1000km). Didn't intend going so far today, but couldn't get in at UFO central. Did get to stop and play marbles though, saw the remnants of the Darwin to Adelaide Solar Challenge (car race) and met a photogenic dromedary! Boy these roads sure are long and straight! Measured one stretch at 30km without a single bend! Lots of landscape changes and we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn, north of Alice S...

Day 5 Still @ Yulara. An even bigger rock..how come it doesn't get as much attention? Is it because it's more deformed and bulbous? Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) is actually more impressive and you can walk on parts of it without upsetting the spirits...it's not very pc to be climbing up Uluru anymore! Sally marked the day by having a small allergy attack on the 30 minute climb..nothing too dramatic and a couple of jabs saw her right....enough to partake of a sumptuo...

Day 4 Coober Pedy to Yulara (Ayres Rock / Uluru to you non-Aboriginals). Lots of red sand, road kill and carrion birds. Then lo and behold, 3 big ROCKS...Mt Conner, Uluru and The Olga's. Impressive how the spring out of nowhere, as are the vibrant green bits amoungst the harsh reds (enough of the poetry already). Running wild at 140kph...and hardly any corners. Everything seems bigger here (as you'll see..especially the wildlife). Sunset at Uluru was ...well...

Day 3 Broken Hill to Coober Pedy. Shrub, shrub, bush, EMU...stop, photo, shrub, shrub......it never rains in the desert! .....only when we arrive. Colder today at only 27C. Had Police escort up 1/2 of Stuart H'way...well they were getting cars off the road so a house in 2-parts could go along...what were the odds of being behind it? In concentration camp now....gates lock at 2200 sharp! Off to the big Rock tomorrow. Will upload photos then..technology permittin...

Day 2 Tree, tree, tree, dead thing, tree, tree... Bendigo to Broken Hill. Sally's birthday so I relented and turned on the A/C in the car when it hit 37 C at Mildura. Cold beer and steak for dinner. Have to drink 1 litre per hour (no, not the beer) A bit of 'civilisation' at Coombah for you and I thought homeland security meant something else!!
