Our Global Gallivants
We are in transit again today. We are taking the ferry for 1 hour to Phi Phi Island. The ferry was late leaving because of the chaos on the dock. That might explain the strange passenger transfer that occurred. We were maybe 10 minutes from the ferry dock on Phi Phi Island. The ferry stops, another one pulls along side and some passengers from our boat hopped over to the other one. I guess just because you're late doesn't mean you can hold up other boats.
It is just the worst kind of mess at the ferry dock. Some people are going to Phuket, some to Phi Phi Island. There is no lineup or signs. the dock isn't really big enough for the outgoing passengers, now 2 ferry boats pull in to disembark their passengers and luggage. Add to that a mass of taxi drivers trying to accost every passenger that disembarks. An unbelievable gong show. There are a lot of boats and people here. Once we get off our ferry, our transfer is waiting for us. We have to take a long tail boat with our luggage and a number of other people and their luggage and strollers. It all works out.
Our hotel room is actually a bungalow in the woods. Super sweet! All kinds of space here and very close to the beach. It is still heavily overcast here, but the water is still pretty. Everyone is puzzled by the amount of rain when this is supposed to be the dry season. We have managed to work around the weather without too much trouble.
Our jellyfish stings are getting itchier, so we made a trip to the store to buy some anti itch ointment that smells a lot like weak tiger balm.
We had a nice dinner by the beach tonight and watched the sun set.
