Our Global Gallivants
Yesterday in our travels we came across a hardware store and managed to buy a tube of crazy glue to fix my iPad cover. I dropped it yesterday and broke the little plastic bracket that holds the iPad in place. The super glue was $.40. We also got a roll of duct tape to close Dave's broken suitcase before the next flight.
I'm going to retract my statement about the jellyfish not causing any problem. My arm has a few itchy red bumps on it today. I used some of Dave's cream on it and that took the itch away.
Dave was talking to someone staying a few doors down from us in this hotel. They are from Victoria. They suggested that we rent scooters and go on a coastal drive. We have been bandying the idea around, so Dave went and asked if we could try one out. It was ok with them, so I hopped on to give it a try. You turn the handlebar toward you for gas and squeeze the brakes on either handlebar to stop, like a bicycle. I am trying to turn the handlebar very slowly, but it's one of those things that doesn't really amp up slowly. I go shooting forward, but was prepared with the brake. It is a little unwieldy to balance. I was to go in a circle, out one driveway and in the other. It was a little wild driving and the bike rental guy was thumping his heart like I scared him. We decided this was probably not a good idea-I'm really not interested in spending any time in a Thai hospital. If he was smart, he wouldn't rent it to me after seeing how I drove it.
So, we decided to walk into the little town here instead and have a look around. First stop was lunch at a German bakery. It is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. It was quite good, but the dessert-black forest cake! Yum!
From there we walked into town. We browsed around the market and a few shops. I bought some "Ray Bans" at a nice street booth. It started to rain a little, so we took the opportunity to stop into the #1 rated spa here for a foot massage. It wasn't too much different than the first footsie we has
d, so we have decided to stick to the traditional Thai massage from now on. They did have a nice deck in the back that was perched on stilts above the river. There wasn't any hand railing to impede your view.
After doing a little more browsing, we chose a restaurant with a selection of fresh fish out front. They had fresh grouper, so we ordered that steamed. It was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed it.
We walked home from there. I keep forgetting to wear the fitness tracker, so don't know how much we walked.
We got home just in time because it started to rain again. This time, it really was a torrential tropical rain
