Day 2 - Today is our full day/night of Disneyland & Walt Disney Studios - YES !!!!
After a good nights sleep and extra sleep in we headed off at 9.20 to have breaky before the Parks open at 10am and guess what we found the Golden Arches or McDonalds LOL. Must admit it was nice to eat a meal which is a reasonable price.
All refreshed we headed into Walt Disney Studios, wandered around taking in the atmosphere and headed for the Back Lot Tram Tour. After 42 minutes in the cue we were so lucky to get the whole seat of the carriage to ourselves, this way we can get photos from both sides. The sun is nice and warm in this chilly windy morning so sitting there taking in the scenery was nice & relaxing. The main fun feature was the rocking and rolling affect the tram experienced in an earthquake where things exploded around you and this massive amount of water rolling in over the tram to out the fake fires out. No wonder I noticed the seats on my side of the carriage where all wet DOH !!
Next ride was in the cars, you know from the kids movie "Cars". After another LONG cue time we were finally in the barriers to hop in our car, ready steady go and run woman run to the car of your choice LOL. They had seat belts which seemed a bit funny to me but once the ride started I knew why - the cars go extremely fast, throw you around and you come that close to the other cars you can high 5 the people in them - LOVED it !!!
We found where Buzz Lightyear and Mickey were but the cues to have photos taken with them was way TOO long so we opted to try to take a photo of them without people in them. The hunger pains told us we were ready for sis raven before heading into Disneyland itself. We found Planet Hollywood and the food was excellent and at a reasonable price which is even better. An added bonus was that you could watch shirts of old movies and see shorts of new upcoming movies - excellent lunch choice !!
We headed for a ride on the Disneyland Express train which takes you around the park and stops three times at certain places. After waiting a 1 hour, why bother I hear you say, well we thought we have already been in the cue that long we would wait as we knew how good the one in Anaheim Disneyland is. Well was it worth the wait ? - arh that be a NO !! I'm sure having been to the original Disneyland in the states and having such good memories and love for the park there we didn't have the "fresh eyes" to experience this one. I know I sound a bit cynical but overall we did enjoy our visit but enjoyed the Anaheim one so much better.
We still couldn't find any characters wandering around to have our photos taken with which I found really strange. We didn't go on any more rides, the cues were ridiculous - mental note to a Shell "check when school holidays are next time DOH !!" The main event of the night was at 10pm the story characters light up Cinderalla's castle with lasers and lights and fireworks surround the castle - highlight of the day, well that and the car ride.
On the way back to the hotel shuttle pick up point we dropped into the train station, which is right next door to Disneyland, to buy our tickets for tomorrow's trip back to the airport so we can be picked up by the Viator shuttle to take us to our Paris accommodation for the start of our tour.
All safe and back in the room by 10.45 with a hot cup of tea and to download the photos. All in all we are glad we came to experience this Disneyland, something else to cross off the bucket list, which somehow is getting longer instead if shorter LOL.
