Well today started with me (JB) heading into Katherine to sort some tyres out. We punctured one at Lawn Hill and plugged it but it was quite a bad rock damage so had to replace it. Another had a crack on the side wall so that had to go as well. I suppose 1000 k of corrugations, washouts and bull dust does that. Anyway two new tyres later........ Kim took the kids on a 8 km walk to the first gorge. When I got back from Katherine I jogged up and caught them just before they arrived at the gorge. The walk seemed a bit longer and according to my GPS was 12 km!!!! Most of the walk is in the dry arid country so it is only at the end you are rewarded with some water and cool relief. It was a bit of a scramble down to the water. Jacob had an easy ride for most of the return journey on my shoulders (I'm feeling it now ). After a quick lunch we headed in to Katherine to finalise the tyres and I dropped the family off at the Katherine Hot Springs. It is similar to Mataranka Thermal Pools and well worth the visit; not too busy or commercial either. After a scanned ID check at the pub we headed back to camp for a well earned rest and drink.
