Despite our disappointment with the camp ground and access to the gorge, the gorge itself is beautiful. We went on the dawn cruise this morning (which goes up two of the 13 gorges here at Katherine), and it was beautiful.
Joel and Caitlyn spotted a fresh water croc on the cruise and as usual the rest of us missed it.
We restocked our meat supplies and headed to Edith Falls (Nitmuluk NP - same as Katherine Gorge). Katherine again was chaos with people everywhere. We got to Edith Falls (70 km up the road) just before lunch and even then the camp ground had only a few sites left. The access is all sealed hence the popularity of it.
The camp site is reasonable and we have hot (gas) showers. However the "plunge pool" as it is referred to (the pool below the falls) is amazing. I was lost for words at how massive and speculative it is. I am looking forward to our walk tomorrow to the upper pool.
Still have lots of Archer Fish in the water, along with the grunters and Joel and the kids spotted a Longtom. We have a Tawny Frog Mouth in a tree about our camp site and not as many cane toads.
The heat has hit us again today. We are all feeling hot - it's 7:30 NT time and just staring to cool down to a comfortable temperature. We are planning to have three nights here- a chance to just relax a bit.
