Wanaka under the sun was pure pleasure, it should become a word to express complete satisfaction in a very simple way. I learned a lot about Maori art chatting at the market with a group of artists. Each one of their greenstone pendants are actually very ancien symboles supposed to bring luck. Some of their intricate patterns remind me of celtic styles crosses.
Today, after only a night in pretty, touristy, givmeyourmoni Queenstown, we left early in the morning to go to Lake Tekapo, a 4 hours drive throught a hilly landscape. Those rounded hills covered in short tuffs of grass looked as if they would wake up and crawl away any moment, like giant turtles maskarading as a landscape. The water in the rivers is not blue, it is light turquoises, beautiful as it makes his way inbetween ranges of slender golden trees. I was keeping an eyes for the elves of the lord of the rings who must still be haunting this place.
Lake tekapo is one of the best place in the Southern Hemisphere to see the stars, the lake itself is supposed to be amazing, can't wait to see this.
