Karamea is at the top end of the South Island, population 650, the entrance sign said welcome to paradise, they are not for off on that one. Our camp site is right beside an estuary which Maxim and Callum have enjoyed exploring as soon as we arrived. The sunset was magical and this morning, John the owner lend us some canoes to discover the same spot under two meters of water at high tide... Imagine wide open waters, birds flying low, low hanging trees creating little coves, and all the peace in the world... Atfer lunch, we'll start to walk the Heaphy track through the rain forest. Tomorrow we will head down the West coast for a camp on "pancake" beach. To those who were wondering, yes Paul did have his pint of Guiness in an Irish pup on St Patrick's day.
