????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? about 2 hours  north east  of bangkok , into the little visited Isaan region of Thailand. We decided to go local transport from now on and only use public buses as they are much cheaper and its more entertaining when no one speaks english!! After much confusion we were off to khao yai but we had a crazy bus driver who kept screaming and not letting people on, as we were the only falang on the bus we had no idea what it was all about but it was very funny all the same!! A Songthaew (literally means two rows of seats, it's a pick up truck with a roof and benches) driver tried to charge us 800b (about 11 pounds ) to get to the park from pak chong to the park but we found a bus for 30b (about 40p) so the public transport is definately the way forward!!! We hitchiked with a group of lovely Thai students to the centre of the park t our campsite Again no English spoken so hilarious trying to sort out forms and equipment to hire! On our first night sleeping under the stars 2 giant porqupines walked passed our tent - they are dog sized., were we the only people who didn't know this? I thought they were the size of hedgehogs- but was amazing to see them running wild! We also had wild deer just rambling through the campsite the didn't seem bothered by us at all! We went on a long trek through the jungle to three waterfalls with our thai companions, the last one was so beautiful and is famous for being in the film 'The Beach'. We awoke to the sound of hooting gibbons and many different bird calls, camping was so peaceful but I think we pitched our tent on a small gravel pit! It was very uncomfortable! We went on a night safari but I think all the animals were asleep; either that or the guide who only spoke thai was incredibly inept!
It was nice to spend time with the locals and they really looked after us I cant believe how fun and kind all the people are who weve met so far! Ayutthaya photos and blogto follow shortly!Â
